Reminded me a bit too much of a certain hit music video..

I _really_ enjoyed this one watching assemblytv from home... original 64k to say the least!

... but that certain hit music video may not fit in 64k :-)

Yes, pretty nice! And it's Java, too! :)

You can find a video version (9.3 MB) of the intro at:

I liked this, the idea is original, the code is good enough and most of all, it's not a boring 3d-show

Please check out the music video for "Eple" by Röyksopp before saying things like "this idea is original"... But I do like the intro now that I've watched it a few times. Far from "original", but at least it's "different". :)

Funny for a while. Not bad.
very nice stuff, i love it. java isn't that bad to be used for intros/demos :-)=

One of the best intros of the compo. Original look and it's nicely done. I'm also impressed by the high amount of pictures.

Should have deserved a bit better place in the compo.

Really nice! A really amazing 64k Java intro that, despite low-res pictures, is a really good "version" of the eple video.

Very nice! Unfortunately on my XP the visuals lock up after a minute, and the application can't be closed... (I'm still listening the music in background... I'll try killing javaw... ok, it died!) (using j2se sdk 1.4.1_01)

Umm, okay, the Java problems fixed themselves -- thanks to the aikarele members anyhow, who tried to solve them :-)

Anyhow, I haven't actually seen the `Eple' video, so I don't know how original it is, but it's overall very well made (except that you can see the `snatch' between the different pictures sometimes -- fade next time, please? :-) ) and runs nice and smooth here. Even though it's basically the same zoomin-zoomout effects (except for a place where it magically seems to jump to 3D or something -- must be my imagination) and minor variations of it for five minutes, it doesn't get too boring. The music could have been better, but overall it's deserves its thumb-up. :-)

The intro has been tested with Windows (98, 2000, XP) and Linux (Mandrake, Debian) using JRE1.4.1. The intro does work most of the time, but due to some bugs in JRE1.4.1, there may be some problems.

With Windows, the scrolling film reel does not work correctly with JRE1.4.1. Only the first 3 photos out of 24 are shown, or all the photos are shown, but the scrolling is very slow. But the intro will continue normally after that part is over.

So the intro works best with JRE1.4.0, but it should work also with JRE1.4.1.

That's the best!!! I like the ideas of zoomfading from one photo to the other.

Wow! Great idea, well executed - and doesn't lose any of its dynamics due to java. Multi-platform demos rock!
