Note: At the moment, this is not official (i.e. we didn't yet get a response from the TP organizers about it), but we're already quite late and wanted to release it this weekend.

Damnit, won't start. Quits almost right after the start.
What's with it? (Most FR prodz ran so far...)

superb textures & models for 64k. the music is rather bad though, and i didn't like the initial part.
added on the 2001-12-01 15:57:34 by robotriot robotriot
Gargaj: What machine are you running it on? I use Pentium II opcodes (conditional moves) in some places, so it won't work on K6's.

Welcome to Das Product++. With the same fast and flawless 3d engine and with the same awesome synth. One can only wonder how all these awesome textures are generated, the models are quite detailed and vibrant and the scenes are very well designed. kb did a good job with the soundtrack, and there is a tune in the loader as well. Of course, it still is a 3d flyby, but it is obvious that lots of effort has been put to the whole design of the invtro. Another imporvement is that it does *not* last 11 minutes :-)

Overall, it didn't exactly rule my world, but it is a hell of an impressive production, and a must-download for its size.

Finally, the text occasionally exhibits some strange flicker in the end, but it's not a serious problem. Good job! :-)

Actually, except ViruzII, everything was written from scratch.

The story is simple: Chaos used his at-work libs to code the fr08 editor and the intro, so he wasn't allowed to give us sources. I wanted to try out some things with that approach too, and because I didn't get the fr08 sources, well, I had to recode it on my own. The intro is the result :)
added on the 2001-12-01 17:04:10 by ryg ryg
Quite nice! I had to start it twice to get it to run, but I liked most parts of it. The music is a bit suspect, though, and I'm not sure about the design (again, it's just a series of fairly random 3d-scenes, but at least this time there's some animation). Nicely detailed, though!

Nice with an invite-intro for The Party.
64k that hurts x) nice packing

I think the music is great; Not the usual generic techno stuff. Scenes looked very nice, and the creature with hair and blobby nose was very cool. But wow, does this thing ever need memory. I shut down all my apps and still had tonnes of disk-swapping and stuttering. (192 megs) Guess I'll hafta thing about upgrading, besides, memory's pretty cheap these days.

Heh, a 64 K program that needs more than 192 megs of RAM. Who'd ever thunk it?

Again, FR surprises us with another i64k milestone... impressive meshes and textures (don't feel like fr-08's bezier patch thing)

Code of the year here (at least in PC).

Respects!!!!!!!!

Goofy music that's bound to make people ask "is that MIDI"? Great textures and some of the cutest critters since Glon 243. 64k is definitely FR's territory and this is another commendable effort.

Hah, Gizmo's pouet logo with the fr013 creatures just came up after I made that comment. Product recognition is a wonderful thing.
added on the 2001-12-01 22:46:12 by phoenix phoenix
Kick ass! The textures are simply *awesome* (considering the fact that it's a 64k).

Very original for an invitation intro :] The only thing that I didn't like was the music. But it goes along the funny theme I guess.

Nice job folks, keep up the great work.

not really my taste
waaah, it crashed for me on the scene with the desk and the calendar... the music carried on playing, but it was just looping and the scene itself had stopped. Bad =(

the music started okay and then turned all wierd, heh... I had to turn it down when it went all squeaky. The creatures are neat, heh.

So I'd have given it a rulz, except that it crashes, and crashy programs are the most evil thing since the dawn of evilness.

cute! =)

sound's a bit buggy/choppy though (well, on my machine it is) and there's a silly typo (unless entrace is a new word they never told me about ;))

Kudos to farbrausch.

Fr strikes back with another 64kb-miracle production.

Although it does not last 11 minutes, the intro has very detailed textures and a very nice soundtrack. You should see this one in order to believe it!!

Congratulations to ryg for the tool code and to the other guys.

I'd call this waste of very impressive code ;)

The whole demo seems to be inspired by some Rareware platformer games on N64 (and that's not a good thing :). Don't know if it's the case but there are similarities in bot characters and design.

Oh, one more thing (my previous comment gave a bit too negative picture of this intro),
the textures and models are very well made, but just not quite my taste.

(btw, "bot" in my last comment should be "both" :)

Nice product from farb-raush as usual, I like the unusual tune, it's nice to hear something else but dnb, great to se some animation too.

But! - it crashed on my Win2K/Matrox-G400 config. Other fr prods work fine.
rulez added on the 2001-12-02 13:26:34 by CodeDuck CodeDuck
Damn.. it's becoming spamming from my behalf, but I watched it again and decided that it deserves a "rulez", after all it's original and has quite a special feel to it.

Very nice intro! I really would like to see the characters in a longer demo, that would be veeery groovy. :)

My favourite from Farbrausch is still "The Product", i'm not only watching it on my monitor, i also like to listen to the fantastic music in my car. Very cool. I still can't believe it.

Btw, there's one scene in "FR-013" that looks a little bit like one of the first rooms in "Max Payne". You're allowed to kill me. ;)

One of the best invitros ever, technically awesome. I got pissed off by the precalc, but it was worth the pain...
rulez added on the 2001-12-02 23:15:10 by dixan dixan
The muppets are white.

Rulez.. definately.. and what makes that particular scene look like max payne rooms is the wall and floor texture.. (heh You're not alone Wild Rage.. =)

Finally, what I like most about this intro is the muppet's hair, sorta reminding me of the lapsus hair effect..

Well at least my original screen size returned.

heh, after reading the comments on the hair on the muppet, i decided to watch the intro once more - and i definitly recommend that ryg enables zbuffering on his next intro.
zbuffering IS on, it's just that the hairs nearly keep at their current position (with some delay ofcourse), so they actually stick through the whole model in the headbanging animation since it's moving too fast... but who cares, it looks nice anyway IMHO.

Blah.
After watch this again, I finally find it really uninteresting and meaningless.
(and slow as hell on my old(?) P2-400 TNT2)

And from a 'pure coder' point of view, i'm not impressed by this kind of "demo", compared to stuff done with "creative code" as in old Orange, Blasphemy, Haujobb, Tpolm (...) demos.

Or maybe it's coz' I consider that doing a single 3D-Engine is only a question of time (all technics are already made and there are a lot of tutorials on the net), and it involves NO creation and imagination effort from coder.
(And don't say I'm not understanding what I say, I work 9 hours a day on a 3DEngine at my work)

Is typically a demo written to make coders masturbates themselves while watching it, with only the question "how the fuck they've packed this thing?" :)

In looking deeper, you've got only a "cold" demo with no effects at all, and with a zero-design effort.
(i'm sorry, but except the ridiculous music (Kb, i love your stuff but this one sucks) and the first scene attempt of design, the rest is only a repetition of all FR demo-style, and I'm bored with that).

Ho, and if I want a "max-payne" scene, I will play to the original, at least it works faster on my configuration... :)

...am I a "vieux con" ? :)

elric rocks, flybye sucks
sucks added on the 2001-12-11 20:50:57 by stil stil
well, honestly, this intro rocks.. let me say why:

1) it feutures lots of work, and its GOOD work..
"Ho, and if I want a "max-payne" scene, I will play to the original, at least it works faster on my configuration... :) "
make it run in a 64K intro and you will have my respect, until then.. go and have sex with that that dolly in the closet.

2) its not a compo contrib. its made for fun and released as a nice gesture against a party .. And thats why it earns more respect than all those "look, we made it to the compo and we will rock the scene with alphablending or flatshade.. we are gonna make $$$ of this!!" ..

elric,stil, you suck
added on the 2001-12-11 21:13:53 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
This is the cutest intro I've seen in a long time, and kb, I seriously dig the music. I use this intro to show my friends after I showed them "cryonics we are" to make them understand that my stuff is not great at all :) elric, stil, you suck. make a 3d-engine at your company, make nice textured scenes (not just textured objects like I do), make nice small characters that dig the music, and make all this in 64kb, not on a cd-rom.
kb, ryg (and anyone else involved), keep the good work going.

It's still one of the better invitations. Content, visuals, music, 64k. \o/

giZMo: what about a sequel? Something like FlyBye goes Conker's bad fur day!

My favourite 64k yet...the best music I have ever heard, tons of stuff to look at, funny animals (you have to love funny animals). It slick, planned, textured up to the wazoo, the text reads clearly. Oh hell - its quite good.

fun intro!

"bitte genießen sie die party danke"

right on

"alcohol and drugs are strictly forbidden"

what kind of nonsense is that? fire the moron who put that there.
