fr does it haujobb-stylee and succeeds... very fine textures, some nice texts as graphical elements, complex organic objects and alternative shadings. only the rythm and music seem bland.

halts dead after the 3rd scene (the one after greets). pIII-600/gf3/w2k/28.31 - the music keeps playing, but the visuals seem to be 'stuck', cycling between 2 frames..

Sagacity: check if you run DirectX in retail mode or in debug mode. Debug mode starts with the last effect and does strange things, while in retail mode it works fine.

Very cool intro btw farb-Rausch. I love your mesh-generation :)

finally a decent follow-up to fr-08. this rocks.
I am experiencing the same problem as sagacity and bhead. WinXP, Gf2Ti, Det. 23.11, DX 8.1, VIA Apollo Pro 133A, P3/866 etc. Also, I am sure I don't use DX debug modes.

I'd have to say this contains some of the coolest generated 3D objects I have EVER seen, combined with some nifty 3D "effects" and good music, this thing absolutely rocks.

Wonderful job, FR. I'd say you topped fr-08 with this one (even though it's a bit slow on my TNT2 - I can't wait till my GF4 arrives).
Great job by Farbrausch, overall kicking intro and imo better than 'the product'!

Ok. I set Direct3D VSync to 'Automatic' in the drivers (GF2Ti Det. 23.11) and managed to watch 97% of the intro.

All I can say is this:
- Full-blown demos are ok, but only intros can make me go 'WOW'.
- Farbraush owns me.
- This is going to be remembered for a long time.
- respect.

nice objects, nothing else. how can stuff like this win?
I still think fr-05 is the best prod from these guys, since it isn't the usual "hey check it out! I have three dimensions and I just used everyone of them! Let's do this over and over again at every party!" stuff that they usually produce.

It's not that they can't, it's just that they won't.
(frustrated as I am, I will not give it a thumb down because i'm sure there was a lot of work involved)
added on the 2002-04-02 22:35:48 by funktion funktion
obviously generated object and boring camera movement.

its ok, interresting though. a lot of stuff have been released from MS, none without much attention. then farbrauch makes a noise, and everybody is over it like fly's on a corpse...did someone say stuff like namevoting or buttkissing wasnt part of the scene?!. Nevertheless it is farbrauch as we love and admire them, high quality!
ohh and excuse me sir, could you please remove your lips from that mans arse... o_O

if i were given a choice, between this intro and fr08, i would've definatly chosen this one.

i think its nice you guys took a break from long 3dscenes in various cameraangles to go back to static scenes with some code behind it all.

with wonderful models dressed up in colorcoordinated textures and such, there's only one flaw in the design - HUNDHUNDHUND - what's up with all that text? :)

as for the music i can't really dare to comment it since i heard it on a pair of 30w multimediaspeakers, but it sounded quite ok, given its done with kb's tightass synth :P

learn to code, this piece of crap crashes on every other machine, loved the music, loved the models, design was crappy, still a good intro but it just works on the authors machine or so :D
added on the 2002-04-03 09:48:48 by piriste piriste
Final Version:

Oh, that text above there about the final version went into the database with the wrong username. It's me, Chaos, humbly begging for forgiveness because of the bugs i coded. It won't take long to fix, but a lot of testing has to be done to ensure maximum stability and compatibility.

actually, i ALWAYS need a final to get it right, but this final is usually pretty good.

Good news everybody!

I finally found some time to work on the final version. too much work in the office. but i got Radeon 8500, Matrox G400 and Voodoo 5500 running. All GeForce cards should work too. Even the good old G400 is fast enough, if the CPU can cope with the math that is.

Hmm, just wanted to express my state of happyness somewhere... the mainboard related bugs will be harder to track down.

technical code jewel served with delicious graphics.. i found it a bit sterile, but that's after all a part of the farb-rausch style.

When I saw FR-014, with the abstract objects, and the ambient, spacy techomusic, I was pleasantly surprised.
An FR production with a real demo-feel to it.
I was disappointed that it wasn't quite finished though...

But this... this well makes up for it. FR continues in the same style, but this time in a finished and polished production. I enjoyed it very much :)

The party version actually worked on both my machines (one KT133A with GF2GTS, one KT266A with Radeon 8500, both running Windows XP), the only slight problem that I saw, was that the R8500 had some errors at the edges of the objects with the envmapping and the flatshading... Didn't look 100% correct. (FR-08 does something similar with the textures, most notably in the sky at the edges of the screen).

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch it again, for the umpteenth time :)

my system swapped like hell all the way through the intro (i only have 384mb) which caused some parts to appear slow -- how much mem does it need? (i have 32mb gfx mem)
hmm.. i also wonder what it takes to get this baby running. haven't got either the party or final version working at home (win2k+256mb+gf2mx/32mb+28.32 detonators). other fr releases and most of the demos run fine on my setup so this is quite weird... any ideas?

shifter: the arrogance in the slogans of fr-019-final is NO farb-rausch trademark. i guess some scoopex guys will beat the shit out of you if you claim that "generations ahead" has something to do with farb-rausch (if you were refering to that). although i have to admit that the more or less arrogant sanity slogans were picked by me, 10 years ago.

First to say: I'm a musician. And then: I liked "Das Produkt" better than this one because of the music. I'd like to have kb sound in the next demo again. The effects are great and the style too but the music isn't that upbeat than in the product. There is one catchy melody but thats it.. So, if the music was better, this would be THE intro I'd say..

i just watched this again after a couple of months. the visuals impressed me even more than they did back then, probably because i watched many many average demos in the meantime.

the tune however, seems a bit weak to me now. sound is good, main theme too, but overall it's not very exciting. a far cry from the liquid wen tune, for example. (ok, it has to fit in 64k, but that has little impact on the composition itself.)

Thumb up anyway, coz the visuals are really exceptionnal. I especially like those "explosions". I always wanted to make this myself :)

the final seems to load/decrunch much more slowly than the original.. nevermind, still deserves the credit it has received. much more stylish than the produkt. fR rule for size coding, obviously, but the sync, objects and design in this are all top notch. love all that text spinning around. i'll try reading more of it someday. the flower sequence towards the end is beautiful. the fR soft-synth sounds great as ever, even if the musical content doesn't quite reach the heights of everything else.

This kinda blows. It looked nice, yes, but otherwise the demo didn't succeed in giving me the chills. It is amazing, of course stuff like this in 64k is, but still it lacks something that, for example, Bakkslide seven has. Maybe this lacks in the atmosphere.

Oh and the music was pretty useless. As always in FR prods.

Smooth, stylish, lots of cool effects, and an interesting use of text... lots of text. :) I like the tune, although the drum sounds like it should be a little deeper to match the overall ambiance of the demo. In the end, that's a very minor point in an otherwise jaw-dropping production. I appreciate this just as much as fr-08, although I like this one more from a scene perspective, just because it feels more like a traditional demo in terms of the way everything is put together and sequenced. Top-notch work.

I'M ADDRESSING AUTOR (DIRECTLY) HERE: your work is amazing. ...But still it's just a picture on a screen. Here I just wanted to make a single suggestion: MAKE A STEREOSCOPIC VERSION (two parallel screens (on a single monitor...) - side by side with an eye-distance difference in point of view (rendering) - so when you cross your eyes (by staring) the pictures overlap and create 3D (depth) ilusion - that way you will see things just like you're RIGHT THERE in that amazing space)

Great colours and shapes.

When the scene moved to 3D I was sceptical. But considering productions like this are the result the (inevitable) move has turned out great. Eventhough the code is not fully the coders own anymore, the productions are fully worthy.

this was the first demo i've seen in my life. my friend said, "you know, it's just 64kb." "what?!! impossible! it must be loading files from somewhere..."
and then i found out what demoscene was about.

this is very solid production, the real classic of farbrausch. the tune is maybe the best one i ever heard in demos, i love the trancey melody and the drop part.
also, this sixty-fourtro runs on my good old geforce2 mx!

Just here to let everyone know that this doesn't run properly on win7 (x64) and/or the current nvidia x64 drivers 197.x for win7 anymore.

E.g. the smashing glass part doesn't produce smashing glass anymore but just some flickering polygons. There are like 1-2 more scenes looking different meanwhile.

Sad to see such a nice prod going down with the ongoings of new OSs and/or graphic-drivers as it seems...

Someone wanna FIX this (and various other demo-prods not quite compatible with win7(x64) anymore nowadays !!) ?? ;-)

Would be a shame if not, wouldn't it?

Bye,
Weasel

Did not fail to beat .the .product from my point of view... just subtract the impact .the .product had and let fr-019 do the rest. I´d call this one "fr-64k-Faverausch".

I completely adore how this unassumingly shattered the preceding notions of what was possible in 64k with its multitude of eye-candy effects shown at a considerably lazy pace. I wonder how it would look had it been done today.

One of those interesting cases where the demo doesn't run correctly on modern hardware any more. Either watch a video or use dgVoodoo2 using the Direct3D 8 dll- https://github.com/dege-diosg/dgVoodoo2/
You'll need to play around with the settings in the wrapper's Control Panel to get it to work as it should look on your particular hardware and bear in mind theproduct was designed for 4:3 screens (even though they letterboxed it?) I haven't experimented too much but I think it may just be a case of using the forced VSync option to prevent the glitches.
