The size of the demo, the pixel effects, is amazing. I was watching it happily and I was already amazed by a lot of effects while I knew I was still in the 1st disk!

Hi TLB and all other Slight Members. Pitty I never get to know this production 12 years later ... Absolutely outstanding production in size in quality for that time.

i true classic! i guess one of the first "trackmos" with own irq loader which is not common on XL. I love the design, the msx...nearly everything...

influenced me a lot!

another story regarding the lost "3rd side"... here TLB invented one predecessor of HIP mode... helped Tamas Bene of HARD and me when playing around with HIP. 1996... that were times...

massively oldksool. but the very nice IRQ loader enables all this great stuff to run on a plain 64kb. Actually a hot topic these days, right Heaven? :-)

Very good, but there are two things that annoys me:
- I HATE the black/white flashing before the stickman world. Hate as "need to cover my eyes until it moved to something else".
- I wonder why some of the effects are present twice (in different resolution), like the vector cube and the circle tunnel. Feel like the demo would have been better if only one of each had been chosen*.

* I can imagine that each was written by a different coder, and that it was a political issue :p

It's maybe the best demo for pure Atari 800XL I've ever seen.

@Preacher
it wasn't me (TLB) which invented the graphics mode (IMP-RES) - it was JAC! aka JL aka Peter "Jacomo Leopardi" Dell.
but I wrote a small converter-routine and later a very simple editor to fix some pixels

3rd side lost ?
at the youtube-vid my stuff is starting from about 20:55 ...
disk-images are offline ?

When Fandal's site is offline, You can download complete version of "Overmind" here:

http://seban.slight.pl/pouet/overmind.zip

(all three disk images, with patched I/O routines, works on any Serial I/O disk-drive)

I really want to run this on my Atari65XE, 64k are enough. But don't know how to run disk image files in this compact flash I have. I can only run executables for now. There is a big manual, some info that doesn't help. Last time I tried I couldn't.
added on the 2014-06-03 14:22:47 by Optimus Optimus
@Optimus: You can run this demo only from real disk drive (connected via SIO port), or the SIO Disk Drive emulator, I mean something like SIO2PC, SIO2SD or SDrive. This demo loads data during some of the effects, so the loader talks with disk drive (or disk drive emulator) on the lowest possible level, so there is no chance to run it from any HDD, CF or other device.

IRQ Loaders are cool, but make it impossible to start the this kind of demos on devices other than those supporting SIO protocol. For this reason other coders decided to use the extra memory, but we insisted to do a real trackmo that will run on 64KB of RAM.
