nice.
i'm somewhat tired of growing pipes, though.

nice. first GL_LINES, then pipes resembling GL_LINES. What is next?! ;)

btw is the music inspired by some 80s song? the melody seems familiar to me but I can't get hold of it.

A near thumb, although it's not very entertaining. And, *maybe* would've made me more impressed if not shown directly after MFX Simulaatio 5 Invi ;)

Beautiful code. Thank you guys. You really make me fascinated and truly, you really go on demo after demo. With the acceleration of your creative mindwork there is no one that can hold your brain horses of causing beautiful storms on my monitor.

greeeeat first scene, and i started to expect something really good - but it went downhill rapidly after that and became rather uninteresting. and you're a bit late to the party on the "extruded lines" thing. :)
quite liked the music and the small touches of gfx. not sure how well the gfx fitted the rest of it, though.

(by the way, i noticed your extruded stuff seemed a bit buggy in places - are you modifying the extrusion vectors through the pipe or keeping them constant? or was it all intentional?)

The whole thing was put together in a relatively short time, mostly from scratch and effectcode that was originally written for an another unfinished piece. It definitely could've used a lot more polishing, and a lot better and more effects.. but we only had a few and decided to make the demo anyway. There was more gfx, with no time to put in, and the flow is seriously lacking.

Smash: It's a bug, but we didn't even try fixing it. The tube seems to rotate 180 degrees for some reason, probably an easy thing to fix..
added on the 2006-12-29 14:25:52 by Preacher Preacher
I don't really know what to think about this demo. Some parts were stylish, some were just a mess on the screen. Besides it's too abstract for a demo... could be done in 64k. But I liked the music very much. :)

I normally wouldn't thumb down a prod of this quality, but I strongly feel that you guys didn't really work your brain cells (no pun intended brainstorm) when thinking of ideas how to use lines creatively enough. Or maybe I just don't see the value in the abstract stuff in this.

The music was ok.

I like the Traction style as always, and the design is very clean and cool. The 2d is so so (lay off the smudge, dude!), but the music suits the prod fine. I noticed the bug that Smash mentioned, and it bugs me. Overall, the demo is neat, should have ranked higher, but it's a bit unispired though. Now I hope that you guys will actually take the time to gather momentum and release something killer for BP. Quality, not quantity.

the last traction piece that really did it for me must have been 'fiat homo'. maybe because it had a concept the visuals were bound to. this one, again, feels a little bit too random to me. which is unfortunate since i really dig the general traction style.

one a side note: the pixel overlays are well done, but don't suit traction at all. plus, they look like someone either hibernated for the last 10 years or is really nostalgic about mid/late ninetees demo design elements.

I'm a sucker for 80's-style and don't see anything wrong with only having an idea or two and running with them. Doing that produces a tight & focused demo although one should be careful about not letting it run for too long, this one is bordering on that but didn't cross the line for me.

This also deviates from the standard traction demo and while the content is somewhat familiar it still brings something new to the spaghetti genre. Finally, I prefer the clean look here to the typical amount of elements surrounding the central effect in recent traction prods.

Neither do I. It's clumsy, we were still learning at that time. The landscape in the beginning is great though, but otherwise it's ribbons galore. I do like the fake rain in one scene, but that's pretty much it.
