it's... weird
probably people would love it if it came from satori =)

This screenshot makes SOOO much sense ;>

some words to describe this:

subtle

dreamy

mellow

minimalistic

chillin'

and very lovable even though not made by satori. res.
rulez added on the 2002-05-21 23:37:09 by uncle-x uncle-x
and it has a pretty nice infofile too :)

Reminded me of both Satori and TAP. Before watching this I turned off all the lights in my apartment and it made this prod even more ...hypnotic. It's weird how some prods with a dozen effects can be very boring, but the most simple ones are often very far from boredom.
rulez added on the 2002-05-21 23:55:11 by DiamonDie DiamonDie
Mmh, minimalistic style can be nice, but this is imo a bit *to* minimalistic. Probably there is more potential, but it's not shown here.

And no, my comment wouldn't be very different in the case that it came from Satori
added on the 2002-05-22 00:26:33 by Crest Crest
It's okay, although I'd wanted a bit more, and more variation. Could have been cool with some contrasts in both music and gfx, varying between the calm mood showed, and some more intense effects and music.
This seemed more like the start of a demo than a whole demo.
added on the 2002-05-22 04:56:36 by lug00ber lug00ber
The music was cool.
satori style was cool.
added on the 2002-05-22 05:23:12 by got got
This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I still don't really like it. It's not what I would call hypnotic or whatever. (I do, however, find watching my HD defrag *very* hypnotic and addictive. Maybe tha'd make a good demo...)
this is really great, maybe one could wish for more content though
rulez added on the 2002-05-22 07:58:51 by lai lai
what lai said, except no maybes about it.
the infofile is sweet.
rulez added on the 2002-05-22 09:19:18 by ript ript
hum, it's too bright in here to see much. but maybe it would ruin the demo if it wasn't that dark. i like how the music distorts the image. 4mb seem a bit much for that little content though, probably it's a mp3 file.
added on the 2002-05-22 11:51:45 by robotriot robotriot
Please stop comparing unusual demos with Satori all the time. Anyway, this is cool, simple and effective design, i really like it.
rulez added on the 2002-05-22 12:51:41 by bruce bruce
After watching this, I was much closer to "what a lousy attempt at minimalism" than to "hey, what a great emotional ride". At least for me, this simply doesn't work. Sorry.

And no, this has IMHO definitely nothing in common with satori (or mfx, or even tap ;)) demos.

nice noise.. very.. hallucinogenic....
but, unfortunately, it goes nowhere, and it doesn't even try to pretend otherwise. kinda unimaginative..
added on the 2002-05-22 14:51:55 by bhead bhead
melike. great music, nice visuals. doesn't particularly look like it took 2 years of hard work, but hey, why should it?
rulez added on the 2002-05-22 15:11:39 by skrebbel skrebbel
btw why is this "satori style"? that's like calling everything with flatshading "replay style" or sth.
added on the 2002-05-22 16:06:31 by skrebbel skrebbel

this was done several months ago but wasnt meant to spread at all i think... also the group name was something a little bit different than $, something like syn, cant recall just know that mindflow of triad is in there =]

anyway, rocks, really moody maybe not scenish enough for some of you?

rulez added on the 2002-05-22 18:09:26 by Jcl Jcl
To be frank, this is just pathetic and pretentious nonsense. It's not even innovative.

And a 4mb archive hardly qualifies as minimalism.

Hey Wade, I got an idea - Maybe this is just a small & simple demo? Maybe it wasn't meant to be so "special" ? Just MAYBE they doesn't even care about the file-size? - Wait, this makes sense...? (consider..)
added on the 2002-05-23 03:06:32 by freddan freddan
i like the music. and the infofile. the visuals are a bit too cheap to be called minimalistic.
added on the 2002-05-23 11:22:57 by shiva shiva
very nice. liked it a lot. a swell presentation of minimalism.
btw: was that Tri Repetae by Autechre lying on the table (in the info bin)?

People who can make good things with so few & simple elements like this, are able to litteraly rock with more time spent on their work. I found "we miss you" good, but one could expect more variety and visual changes in order to really appreciate it.

Great synchs and ambiance. Please go deeper in your concepts. One complain thought, like many pouet users i consider that it could have fit in 64k.
rulez added on the 2002-05-23 18:22:53 by willbe willbe
Fredan. It does make sense.

They obviously don't care about the file size. They clearly didn't set out to make something special either. Therefore, the finished result speaks for itself.

So why all the thumbs up?
added on the 2002-05-24 12:03:37 by Wade^Hjb Wade^Hjb
inventive synching, calm minimalism with a slight taste of noise, but no loopfeature?

ses på irc pågar :)
rulez added on the 2002-05-24 12:09:50 by jelly jelly
Wade: maybe just because we are expecting demos that tells different things from usual 3D-rotating-shapes-plus-motion-blur-metaballs dancing front of a true-color-multi-textured-plasma-tunnel ?

just for the intention of producing something different and still coherent, my thumbs up.

Wade: personality.

What??? I download 4.5MB to watch this Crap?!!?! This is even worse than Satorri's demos (At least Satorri's have more than one and fullscreen absurd effects to watch, if you have taken pills for a trip or something ;) Ugh...

P.S. It's funny that people somehow get voting such demos, cause they remind Satorri, cause they are bored of high blown poly's, cause they consider it originall (And such a crap IS Originall =) or because it's told to be cool to do Satorri like stuff ;P

at the end of this uneventful noisefest: "Hmmm...merely 4.5Mb" (rolls eyes)

Who cares if the timing is immaculate, they just robbed me from precious bandwidth, diskspace and time. It doesn't deserve any honorable imho.

honorable mentioning (doh!)
added on the 2002-06-26 04:21:25 by Shifter Shifter
how the fuck can this remind any-one of satori?
added on the 2002-06-27 14:40:18 by _ _
oh darned it's been nearly 2 months and i still love this. people complain about the size and meanwhile they p2p 300megs of italo house daily. not that italo house doesn't rock, but this rocks too. so shut up.
added on the 2002-06-28 12:27:18 by skrebbel skrebbel
by the way, all the size is the music, try playing the datafile in some mp3 player. also, talking about that, did anyone find the hidden part yet?
added on the 2002-06-28 12:29:03 by skrebbel skrebbel
yes, i found the hidden part!
(there was a couple of suspicious strings in the .exe file which i tried sending as command-line arguments :)

by writing the command-line option "datapsykos" you get to the hidden part.

Would be better to just have the music - all the rest is [as mentioned by so many] beneath minimalism, it's hardly worth watching, but definitely worth listening to.

Beautiful. It's exactly the length it should be, make it a little longer and it would start to wear on you. This shows how far a simple idea takes you. Are there any Amiga demos like that? (well, State of The Art could qualify I suppose)

Moody soundtrack and mellow & slightly noisy visuals. Many experimental demos are kind of irritating but this one's very calming. We've come a long way.
rulez added on the 2006-08-16 16:45:49 by slux slux
yes quite simple..
it is nice when the "dots" become "lines" .. really cool effect ;)

Unoriginal, cliched and about the least artistic thing I can imagine and like all $ demos I've seen, it had no time, effort or thought spent on it.
