Really great, both technically and style-wise.

Greatest wild ever.

I don't really like the style of neither visuals nor the sounds, but it's quite well done, so thumbs up.
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 21:12:32 by teel teel
it has really good parts although others are simply average, but almost everything is well finished. At the beginning I thought it was a remix of their well-known animation...
Awww, i love it.

technically great stuff. but nothing special.

Some technical/visual bugs, but the rythm is very good. The final part is very bad IMO (doesn't have the quality of the beginning, 2nd part..

But yeah.. I'll probably see it again. so is cool!

Didn't like the lyrics but the rest is brilliant. Massive thumbs!

i've only seen visual approach to the aesthetics of techno from them before. that rocked, this just sucked.
sure, it's done with quite okeyish technical skills, but the whole video just seems to be empty. lyrics were as good as any scenepoetry, which means crap.

big improvements from last year! :D
..but why are all germans so damn pretentious? ;)
rulez added on the 2005-03-29 23:04:17 by lithis lithis
i liked the message.
the implementation was pretty well directed aswell.
the whole video + vocals/lyrics could still use abit more professional touch though. it just looked abit tacky here and there, sorry for the honesty. -_-

Of course this was the natural winner. Well executed and looked very professional. I probably enjoyed last years entry at little more due to the fantastic soundtrack.

rulez added on the 2005-03-30 10:15:07 by elend elend
yes, a very professional production. liked it. i agree with gargaj, the lyrics were a bit strange in the beginning, but worked better later on in the video.

however, the music sounded quite distorted here, is it the video or somehow my codec/system?
rulez added on the 2005-03-30 13:32:10 by fox fox
really rocked. the intropart with the zooming was ace, the onbeat zoom later on even more ace.. great music too
rulez added on the 2005-03-30 13:36:51 by maali maali
The scene in the screenshots was the only one actually worth noticing. The music was cool, but lyrics and (heavy accent) vocal reaked. Quite limited animation as well (100% afterfx?)
added on the 2005-03-30 13:58:32 by hornet hornet
it was certainly polished enough to win, but honestly, I wasn't very taken by the execution of the otherwise very great concept and idea. Vocals were a bit dodgy occasionally.

the "message" is super flat and sucked out, and musically this is some kind of "miss-kittin-goes-dark" stuff. BUT it's all very professionally done, and i like it quite much more than the rest of jco's stuff. dunno if it deserved to win but since scene is a technology-fixated subculture, i bet it did.

I liked their last years wild release more (Well, that was longer and had more movement in it). Still this is enough for a thumb, gotta love that infinite effect synced to the rythm!

hm ... quite some cool visual twists in this one. but the whole way too obvious cheesy "go you way"/"switch off the tv" wannabe moral and the lyrics is too much puberal poetry for me. also the picking up the sheet of paper shot was just pathetic, really. it somehow lacks depth because it tries so damn hard to hammer its moral into heads ... btw: telling somebody to "go you way" today is as helpful (and creative) as telling somebody to "eat healthy" ;) .

Still, some great visual ideas in this one. And a very decent choice of type face.

sagacity, hopefully :)
Granted, it's a bit cheesy and the theme is overworked, but I'm happy to see wild entries with a good theme that has a point, instead of lame joke home movies.

sure, "switch off tv/go your way" has been said a thousand times, but i cant stop thumbing up productions that glorify individuality and condemn consumerism if its being said in a good way.

you can of course try to dodge the obvious and encode the message, but then again why should you? being haunted by irony all day, i love to see something that is plainly what it is.

also, from the technical aspect this has been well executed. le bon thumbs euppe.
rulez added on the 2005-04-02 18:05:33 by paniq paniq
congratz to the winner.
Color mixture was better balanced this time (antique + red/orange) . Direction of start and middle part felt quite average to me, but at least you've did it in the last 30 secs where everything
fits like hand in glove.

Ahm.. about the theme, I'm already healed from
massmedia consumption =D ... no TV nor radio at home since years!

Next time please be somewhat more with the message ;)

Apart from that - technically and aesthetically almost perfect and it really hit my nerve on the party. Definitely my CDC of the month (only that I don't have one of those precious hearts left...)!
rulez added on the 2005-04-04 19:13:56 by kb_ kb_
Very well crafted, but I second Sagacity et al: Iisn´t this "keep away from this bullshit"-message not already part of the "bullshit" as well?
Thus, I prefer listening to the soundtrack (which still was sufficiently enough to made it the best entry in the wild compo) instead.
added on the 2005-04-04 21:25:25 by T$ T$
its a lot better than last years entry (it was too long last year and some bad keyfx and outdoor scenes etc). i like the message and the music although the video would be better if you would use some close(r) views/shoot at the last third part i guess.
added on the 2005-04-05 10:03:41 by dirtie dirtie
nice execution but well, very, very corny.. and the voice sounds... lame. piggie for the technical side.

looks like we created another controversial release ;)
tnx for your comments (very helpful).

> Hommage to Anne Clark?
actually we didn't know of anne clark until we got some comments on the finished track. but i really like her style.

> anyone got the author's contact information?
drop me a mail: jco (at) jco-music (dot of doom) de

> it was enjoyable in an otherwise rather horrible compo.
yeh, most wild-releases are still crap (there were a few other nice ones in the compo, though). putting together crap is far too easy with video. but i'm not gonna rely on that for future releases :)

> you can of course try to dodge the obvious and encode the message, but then again why should you?
true, true... at least, everybody understands such a clear message. very few understood the underlying message in out back into (last year's entry).
and with memorize your future, we still tried to dampen a too simple positivism and the clearness of the message by playing everything backwards. imho it makes a different sense when seen that way.

> Quite limited animation as well (100% afterfx?)
i learned to hate it. began thinking about coding something myself.

> but do we really need *another* anti-massmedia "consumerism is bad lol" production?

as long as tv is able to grow even dumber, indeed we do.

i rewatched it on marast, and despite that i still find the message-delivery TOO obvious, i really have to give thumbs up!

but on a small sidenote, i would have prefered the music going minimal-techno style 4/4 all the time like in the beginning, instead of going for that breaks scheme. but thats just question of taste.

this wild summarises my view of the world perfectly.

fuckings to all arty finns, germans, hungarians and other people who don't understand this.

probably one of the most important productions ever.
rulez added on the 2005-04-14 00:52:21 by gemini gemini
and oh. people should remember that it's quite hard to formulate this kind of message in a foreign language. it all shines through on the vocals, as we all might have noticed. if the author(s) would have been british, it wouldn't have been so "corny". (which i don't agree with, but i can see where it comes from)

although no doubts, this cut is sincere and honest, it seems to be a bit immature for carrying the message:: coz the whole production is very traditional and that's exactly what creates this impression of being professionally done // professionalism is something this wild is going against tho' -- so go figure! // it might be done intentionally too, in this case, we're not your audience

so:: not fresh enough but the direction of message is deeply that of ours

message is delivered too cheesy, i expect more than "enlarge your [something]" stuff. and that "they are poison!" thingie... no, thanks. those kinds of stuff just creates anti-anti-media imho.

only remarkable part is the one on the screenshot above, though the posters flicker bad.

it's not as "wild" as it could be.
it works.

and as pervert as it may sound, i found (i'd think unintended) references to 'from my heart' by halcyon in the latter part of the presentation.

a message is all we need.
