A really awesomatic intro. I really love how the simple shapes of basic raytracing are used to full effect here.

Linux port! :)
Linux port was not possible only because the softsynth is using some specific windows api, my fault. But the raytracing is fully in OpenGL, thanks to xt95!

I just love the colorful scenes with the balls, but I don`t like the visuals of the second part...reminds me of something, that might be found on rotten.com.

I also like the music.
Fits perfect to the first scenes.

added on the 2009-03-16 10:37:52 by RA RA
Hi Skyrunner we are aware of that problem which is due to the compiler. Perhaps we should have mentioned it somewhere in the info. Norton does the same thing to me. As far as I remeber, @lx of FRequency told me that Avast is more flexible.

psonice, please could you tell why :)?
added on the 2009-03-16 16:27:05 by ulrick ulrick
ulrick: sure.

It's kind of "one-sided". The code is great, the effects are good, the music is really good too, but there's no design, flow or whatever. Some other stuff goes the other way - simple technically, but great design. The really great intros manage to have both, but it's rare, especially at these small sizes.

With stuff like this, I really enjoy watching it once.. the sheer coolness of good realtime raytracing makes it great. The second time, I get past that, and there's only really coloured spheres on a plane, it's not so enjoyable.

It doesn't use directly gm.dls, but it is used indirectly with some builltin windows sound effects (reverb, echo...etc.). This is the main reason why this is not released under linux. We will try to work in the future on a portable synth for 4k. ;)

nice engine demonstration. fractals seem to be done by raytracing the reflections of a geometrically organised scene. any chance for a linux port?

This nice effect is an idea of rouquemoute and is called wada fractals. The fractals inside the spheres are only due to repetitive reflections.
