After having it more or less ready for almost a year I finally got around to wrap this up in a release for others to use.
The primary goal is to make those (accidentially) nvidia only opengl releases run elsewhere.

I love this, and thanks a lot for the early-access <3.

So, uhm. What does it do?
added on the 2009-10-22 10:12:30 by raer raer
rare: simply put, it emulates the OpenGL32.dll in order to grab the shader sources from a packed executable. just place the dll and the xml next to a crinklered 4k (must be using OpenGL obviously), then configure within XML and run the intro. you get your sources or you can even replace crap in the application's shader code without recompiling the entire crap, and everybody is happy, including ATI.

Hooray for the idea alone...

Neat idea, but are there really that many OpenGL NVIDIA only demos around? I guess this applies mostly to 4ks?

WTF

great idea and thanks for releasing. Gloom, thats right, there are surprisingly many nvidia only 4k prods due to shader errors. However, you can find demos too.

any afford to make demos more compatibel (without the need of a dozend different setups) has to be supported:

Cool, thanks! And don't worry about the shader-dump, you can do that quite easily anyway :p

this and crinkler's recompress function mean I can suddenly watch a load of great intros in realtime rather than video. It might also be a useful educational tool, so big thumbs.

I have a feature request: please add glCreateShaderProgramv - I think that function is not yet in the wrapper.

This nice wrapper helped me multiple times to debug things which where not supposed to be debugged. A simple to use and very handy tool.
added on the 2014-04-26 17:00:12 by las las
yea, it's only wrapping the normal glShaderSource/glCompileShader (core+arb) methods currently. So the status/infolog should then be read at the program object, when there is no shader objects available?
Which intros are using this (for test)?
added on the 2014-04-26 23:40:10 by Psycho Psycho
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=62964 uses glCreateShaderProgramv
added on the 2014-04-27 00:41:32 by las las
Support for glCreateShaderProgramv should be working now :) (the core version, not the old similar nvidia only version)
(kepler is still black here though (290+cat14.4), without any compile errors)
added on the 2014-05-04 00:34:11 by Psycho Psycho
Nice, thanks a lot for adding that function!
Well... Don't expect OpenGL 4.4 to be working properly on AMD. ;)

There is a crash in connection with removing the ";" -> ";LINEBREAK" replacer in connection with this intro. Not sure whether it's caused by the intro or gshaderreplacer - in case you want to look into the issue, I can upload the xml somewhere.

More people should use this tool. It's a standard tool in my debugging chain when GLSL stuff doesn't work and it does an awesome job. Saved me going through a lot of pain several times. Among others, especially compo organizers should know this tool - I used it several times at revision and could directly tell what's wrong with some intros.

Download link is updated with version 1.2, fixing the buffer overrun reported by las :)
(and amd/intel fix for the testcase intro)
