Rulez for the platform, but pc speaker's sound really sucks 8-)

The download link isn't straight to zip file, but it's still being worked on so it's subject to change.

For the (short) record, this is a tracker for the original IBM PC, using, yes, the PC speaker. It started out, like many projects, as a silly dare. Trixter is the one behind, I've merely added it here for your enjoyment. Also, Spinsane/cRO contributed a great title pic. More output devices are in the works, including the PCjr.

Of particular interest is the tune Virt made at the party (R???????.MON), without ever having seen the tracker before.

Ruled hard.
It was crazy when the projector wouldn't synch with the machine and Trixter was trying to blindly grope his way through the menus.

I added a link to the very enjoyable show-off video. :) (If you think it's unnecessary, we can kill it again).

Hooray for "stupid little projects". :)

nice idea. Sound "quality" (of the video) reminds me of PalmTracker for Palm OS [which can quite useful if you have some written notes in front of you and want to know how they sound]. Does anyone want to port the PalmTracker demo tune to Monotone? :)

absolutely crazy idea. will try it out as soon as i have time.

perhaps one should organize a pc speaker music compo? =)

"OOP development for that old dinosaur must be like giving birth through your nose... while having a cold!"

It was more like a different orifice, actually...

I got around most of my issues with methods like TSong.GiveMeAPointerToTheRowDammit()
Not really, but you get the idea (there were times when the triple-pointer-loading in loops was unacceptable so I did my own caching).

I have done a PC-Speaker tracker in 2004, and so has a friend of mine, Eagle. And I bet there have been more PC-Speaker trackers in the early 90s. Many "normal trackers" also had PC-Speaker output using a 6bit hack, as it can be heard in Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions.
Nice. Then I should see it when I'll have time :)

Good idea.
I'm still surprised though, that 3,5Mhz CPU from ZX Spectrum can 1000% better operate with beeper, than old PC.

splendid but i would also add at least basic instruments with frequency, volume and pwm width tables per instrument (i suppose nothing more can be added there).

FYI, I moved MONOTONE to github as I'm adding a few features. Tufty, I added your tunes to the distribution ;) Couldn't add 4mat's since the link is broken.
