A hasty invalid entry for JS1k using webGL+Audio fitting in less that 1k, unpacked and standalone.

Hope you like despite the mandelbulb.

Fucking thing even comes with sound, holy fucking hell!
rulez added on the 2013-03-05 23:09:22 by mog mog
Oh, mmmh, yes it has sound. And I was wondering if there had been any webGL 1k with sound before. Not that it matters but I don't remember hearing any.
added on the 2013-03-05 23:12:10 by p01 p01
Let me put it this way, this is the first 1k with sound I see and hear that doesn't play the sound of the Pi people - meaning it's somewhat enjoyable :P

Technically and visually impressive though <3

mog: looks like you missed MATRAKA which feature some sweet voxels and VERY LOUD music ;)

Safari gives me a white screen with music. Chrome gives me a heavily glitched demo (looks like major texture corruption) with slightly glitchy music. Latest OSX, latest versions of the browsers, powerful enough GPU..

Strange. I tested on Win7 and Vista in Firefox Aurora, Chrome Canary, Opera 12 ( and the next version of Opera desktop ).

The shader might be a bit heavy and setInterval is set for 30fps. That's a bit too heavy for my EEE PC.

Great fot 1kb. Didn't like the music tho.

I get sound+white screen in latest Chrome.
added on the 2013-03-07 01:30:53 by Photon Photon
p01: I doubt it's speed related (where it runs in chrome it's pretty smooth). I have noticed that some shaders (e.g. on glsl.heroku) glitch in a similar way in safari (although I saw this in chrome). Could be a driver issue or something.

Thinking about the exact nature of the glitching, it's possibly something along the lines of the image getting blitted to screen before frame rendering finishes.

In Chrome it runs a bit too fast and crashes the display driver. Bt in FF19 it works great!
rulez added on the 2013-03-07 14:01:41 by Exin Exin
Cool. Wouldn't this be possible in much higher resolution? It eats barely any CPU or GPU for me...
rulez added on the 2013-03-07 14:05:24 by noby noby
i get some great looking glitches on my machine. nothing like the screenshot.
added on the 2013-03-07 14:11:15 by psenough psenough
It takes the whole CPU load possible in FF and almost no GPU load.... Tested on Pentium D and some Athlon X2 at work....

I only get a black background.. Linux Mint Debian edition and FF18.
And in Chrome or Opera ?
Anything in the error console ? Any sound ?

Nice one!
But why adding a prod before the competition is over? (If I read the website right)

Hypersonic Mandelbulb uses webGL which disqualifies it for the contest.

I submitted it to JS1k anyways on the ground that the contest always contain a bunch of invalid ( as in not working in all the required browsers ) entries which are ultimately disqualified by the organizer and discarded by the jury. But the organizer did not let Hypersonic Mandelbulb through :p

As for why I wrote this entry knowing it was invalid in the first place, well, @unconed made a neat Jelly Mandelbox shader intro in 1.1k packed. It tickled my demo sense ... I got cracking and ended up with a standalone intro with music in 1k unpacked.

Have a bunch of glitches, must lack a shader :/
Is it supposed to look like that? ;)

Win7 x64, Quadro 600 (310.90 driver), Firefox 19.0.2
added on the 2013-03-14 12:20:28 by raer raer
Not quite.

The shader doesn't seem to compile using native Open GL in Firefox, which is a little strange as it works for me in Opera 12.

Have you tried both ANGLE and native Open GL ?
added on the 2013-03-14 12:57:39 by p01 p01
Works ok now with webgl.prefer-native-gl set to false... Thanks.
added on the 2013-03-14 13:06:47 by raer raer
I get nothing in my Mozilla's SeaMonkey v2.16.2 and IE7 web browsers. :(
added on the 2013-03-16 09:59:38 by AntDude AntDude
AntDude: See above comments about ANGLE and native-gl .

Try going to: about:config search for webgl and toggle the webgl.prefer-native-gl flag
added on the 2013-03-16 10:17:37 by p01 p01
p01: I tried setting webgl.prefer-native-gl's default false to true, but same problem.

What's ANGLE? Also, how can I set it for IE7 since it doesn't do about:config?
added on the 2013-03-16 20:59:29 by AntDude AntDude
:\ no luck then.
IE does not support webGL.
ANGLE is used by every browser but Opera 12 ( which uses its own in house "ANGLE" ).

Came across this while looking for good JS/WebGL/1K stuff. How is one supposed to beat this? Fuck you for being so talented :D

Fuck you for not showing us how it's done! :p

Please.

gives me white screen
added on the 2017-01-13 09:06:08 by Flashira Flashira
The white screen you had was because ANGLE stopped allowing uniform and attribute of the same name which saved a coupe of bytes.

HYPERSONIC MANDELBULB is fixed.

... will need to fix my older webGL prods in the same way :p
