Remember watching this on stream and loving it hard. Then when I saw it was only 8k it really blew me away. Amazing at any size but really amazing in 8k. Love the music, colours, the whole feeling of it. Fucking love the arpeggiated bassline.

Unfortunately I have nvidia and while the music played the program locked up pretty bad and I had to do a hard reset on my computer.

both versions crash my nvidia drivers hard
Black screen with sound, win7 64bit AMD Radeon HD6800
Loved it on the stream though!
Video please?

youtube of current version
Tested fine on my r9-290, intel hd4600 and hornet's titan. On the gtx860m dev build crashed drivers sporadically until I downgraded back to 353.x (after which it has been fine). On the win7-gtx780 compomachine (356 drivers) it hard crashed instantly, while working on the win10-780 compomachine (maybe older drivers?). Mostly stable on the 740m - as long as we kept away from certain values of an otherwise harmless parameter, and after spending time friday for another driver workaround only for the kepler. Argh! After I got this haswell-maxwell laptop I'll rank nvidia 3rd! on the driver chart..(mostly for shader compiler bugs though)
Gonna test on some configs tomorrow.

gtx970 w7 latest drivers crash the driver on init, music keeps playing
No problems running it on windows 10 x64, with Hot-fix driver 358.59 from nNvidia. Running on a GTX 980Ti.

Sync! :)

Instant crash after pre-calc here too: GTX 660 with 358.50 drivers on Win7 64.

has some nice visual moments but overall it lives by that really great music + sync.

Direction makes it.

During the first few seconds I thought, hm, that looks a lot like a recent Still demo... (does the name of this intro somehow refer to Calcifer?)

Not sure what to make of it - visual quality is great for 8k, but the instruments sound very generic and the look is too similar to other demos, so piggy.

Updated archive with a fix for windows 7 (shadercompiler_43 actually) - and the thereby missing shader caused black screens on amd and hard crashes on nvidia.
kylearan: yeah, name partly refers to Calcifer :)

Hooray, it runs on my machine now! Nice work, Psycho

In the spirit of honesty (which, as we all know, is the foundation of the demoscene), the volumetric effects are very inspired by this shader (which is an implementation of this paper ).

Hard crash!! Yep, I felt that! Will try again (saving work first!)

Direction and volumetric lights (?) was good! Great vibes and nice colors.

New version works perfectly. Good work, like that.

4k'ish amount of content, but for what it does, it does it perfectly! :)
rulez added on the 2015-10-19 13:35:24 by KK KK
The new version works perfectly now on Radeon; entertaining little intro, good length to it. The only thing that bugged me is the stuttery rotation of the triangles, don't know if it was intentional or not.
rulez added on the 2015-10-19 13:52:33 by Gargaj Gargaj
First I was like "nice, but not too much for 64k". But then I realized it's not 64k... So clear thumb.

kind of unusual tension setup ... without ever really resolving it. one waits endlessly for the hell to break lose but nothing happens :D that said, the permanent tension also works great, with strong relation between rather simple visuals and a very good soundtrack =)

Dug it.

this must be one of the best ways to put ye olde 2d-triangle-cloud effect into place. music, flow and sync are absolutely stunning.

works fine now, thanks! tasty fog too
rulez added on the 2015-10-19 22:33:19 by Weyland Yutani Weyland Yutani
Can also confirm works fine now Win7 64bit nvidia maxwell card 358.xx driver. Looks glorious in realtime since the video compression artifacts kill a lot of the detail and subtle gradients in the volumetric light.

boring, one effect only, a coder playing with compute shaders, put few triangles in and out, nothing new or fancy, generic music, yet everybody drolling, oh wait... a mutual admiration society principle, i forgot

putt3r, I guess a lot of people upvoting were at the party or sofascening. Sometimes you just have to have been in the temporary autonomous zone to experience it how they did I guess.

For me this was a lovely thing, experienced through a pleasant haze of pepperschnapps and all-round glowiness.
rulez added on the 2015-10-20 01:25:38 by Fell Fell
Fell: if I understand you correctly, you are referring to some lame excuses for laziness and lack of structured ideas, which can only be developed by real work, lots of iterations and critical thinking, as opposed to being creative ad-hoc aka straight out of my ingenius ass. Yet again, I am not sure if we are on the same pagina.

Updated archieve and youtube to final version, mostly some music and script fixes (that's why it's over 7k now;)), and the precision problem mentioned by gargaj.

just wait a year and we'll see the same shit in 1k.
thumbs for triangles.
rulez added on the 2015-10-21 02:43:18 by rudi rudi
Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this one. There seems to be some problem with music and composition. Like something doesn't tick right. Also, it is in the mood of "Chaos Theory 7k", just worse ;) The only thing I like are beautiful god rays.

I'm not sure if I ever want to visit Europe, especially with the kind of people that lurk here.

Nice tune, especially in the end.
Reminds me of our Revision demo, albeit this has better sync and not done in 1,5 days (prolly)

Big thanks for doing a Win7 version! And while watching the demo again in real-time, I realized I cannot with a straight face accuse it of using a variation of a well-known effect without thumbing down 95% of all demos, including my own. ;)

So solid thumb up for this nice looking and well-synced prod!

Ok music and one (good) effect can make an intro. Not in this one.

rocking prod, except the text/text effect. a simple final screen with the same text would have been better, imo.

reminds me of still's calcifier so as a 7k that's quite impressive. not to keen on the music, sounds a bit dull.

At first I thought that it's pretty good, but a bit too simple for a demo. Then I noticed that it's 8k... Awesome!
rulez added on the 2015-11-10 15:59:34 by chock chock
solid
music sounds like a jetplane on acid, but cool effects and lightning
i approve of these triangles and volumetric lighting with tight syncs to the music
