Heh, I didn't see who it was by in the compo and though that that guy must really like his or her plasmas :)

An admirable first try. Could use more design and better colors but that's a small gripe.

Suffers from the first prod, one-man army syndrome I guess. It's not good, but neither bad.

I applaud Optimus if he keeps this way and not the BITS one :)

I've seen better stuff, but also things which looked more worse than this one.

Well it looks as though Optimus finally buckled down and got some work done instead of whining away. ;) Considering there are 2 scenes in it with music, is far better than anything i'll ever do, so i'l deffo give it a thumb up. :D

nice screenshot, proper credits, but add some compatible-mode .exe (unpacked) - doesn't work under win7.

Optimus: this deserves a thumb up! - not the best ever, but this by far surpasses much of the other stuff you've done lately. Keep going like this!

Nice to see that optimus doesn't spend all his time trolling here! ;)

When I heard sound a thought "What a lame synth! Sounds like my Buzzic with simplest instruments possible!". I was right :)

  1. Work harder on music. My opinion is that music is 70% of a demo. There are several good synths available for everyone, e.g. kklangzeug, Picatune. Try them. If it is simplier for you to use Buzzic then take a look at "Comet" demo from Rebels to have a good example of it's use.
  2. Last scene is very dark. It has bright "sky" and very dark "ground". That's strange, unnatural and thus it looks bad.

Demo is not that bad. I can say it is really good for the first try.

Very nice 4k intro Optimus! IF you keep on coding on this way you'll be a great coder!

Oh... And now it's the time to find a demogroup :)

looks quite good ... but sound is really not :)

Thanks for your comments. I enjoyed watching the competitions at the streamer.

The plasma is not exactly a traditional plasma but perlin with plasma equation. I like it very much how it looks. I enjoyed making this intro because I have seen it's easy with OpenGL to code something that looks nice in my eyes.

Also, I am not using shaders in this. I am not exactly sure why (I think I wanted to do something with good old OpenGL version that kinda runs even in my old laptop). It might look so for because of the perlin but this is just a procedural texture.

The sound is not good, I know. My brother (who recently wants to contribute in the scene with music) tried buzzic for a while but found it very unfriendly. Also, there were no bytes left (and the music he did was taking 1-2 minutes to precalculate), so I cut some samples and wrote the beginning intro patterns alone.

Another thing I regret, the blobs morphing (based on game of life iterations) I made the mistake (but I knew it, I just didn't bothered or needed to save few more bytes for this and was bored) to not time it by timer but incermenting some value every frame, so in the preety fast compo machine the grid was empty very early after a lot of iterations and it all looked dark and lame very soon :P

Sorry for the long talk, just my impressions.

After recordnizing Optimus rather by talking than contributing, it was really nice to see some demo stuff by him.
Waiting for the next one...

I just uploaded a new version with time limit so that the second part doesn't morph so fast in fast computers. I'd also like to have a compatible version but I am having problems making one that works now (it sounds strange but..)
