Lots of 2x2 chunky effects returned from the grave!

Solid demo.

Technically very impressive and at least it's heavy done right. Could have used more movement in the 3D scenes.

This runs on an Amiga 500? Fucking amazing. I think people kinda lost perspective how hard it is to do texturemapping on an 7.14Mhz 68000...

@Calexico: The NFO states that it needs a 020, so it won't run on an A500.

When watching the compo I commented "Can this really be running on pre-92 Amiga HW?".
I had forgotten about the A3000s!
Nice idea to target the early high-end Amigas, I wonder how fast it runs on the best A3000 (was it 030 @ 25MHz or so?)
rulezadded on the 2010-08-08 12:24:18 by Sdw Sdw
Sdw: yeah, it ran on an A3000 with 030@25MHz in the compo

to clear things out a bit. the platform was A3000, 030/25Mhz, 8MB of memory and OCS. So all the scenes are in 16 colors except the last scroll which has 32 colors

I would be more impressed if it was in A500 since the resolution is a bit low, but this is still quite good as a demo alone.

Finally a demo which can use the capabilities of my expanded A2000, that alone deserves a free thumb up. And another, because it just rocks.

From the technical point of view this one is amazing. But I don't like the visual style very much, as well as the heavy music.

- requires an A3000 (25 MHz), not just an A500 (7 MHz) as I read somewhere
- requires 020/030
- requires 8 MB

so I fail to find it impressive at all codewise, sorry, it's just barely ok. Piggie.

68030/25? Ok, then I am not impressed anymore. It should be much faster. Although I have to admit that the original Amiga 3000 had very slow memory.

Had its moments, although the tune was not my thing. Rather its implementation in a low platform - compared what's used for the AGA+060 configs - is remarkable.
Greetings screen looked nice, the 3d objects not really, the zoomer was pretty neat again.

Was the tune streamed audio ?

I was baffled about what kind of Amiga was running this demo, as the compo slide only stated "Amiga". Now that I'm disappointed that it wasn't an A500 doing a major technological breakthru, I still thumb it up for the music and the visual impression.

rulezadded on the 2010-08-15 20:50:35 by Maissi Maissi
Its impressiveness is seriously spoilt by the fact it has been presented on a 25MHz 68030, but then again, it's not restricted to showing static 3D objects in the middle of the screen.
Don't like the music at all though. Far too simple...
rulezadded on the 2010-08-15 21:31:00 by Paranoid Paranoid
Chunky music as per usual (wooo!). I'm not that worried about it being OCS requiring a faster processor than an A500 - Although would have been amazing to see smooth on a stock 1200 with mem. But still a short and enjoyable prod. :-)

But a -2 for not making it 68000/A500-compliant.

It's a pity my A500/020 only has 4MB of fast ;-( I had to test it on beefier amigas

Very nice :-) I enjoyed the music and gfx (the spiky halflife bug-like tables stuff that looks like older jaggermeister demo fits better in this demo) specially the end scroller.

@britelite: we want more superoriginal-like stuff... e.g. beertime on 1MB A500! ;-)
