The idea came about year ago while watching PC 64k intros. Most of them started with progressbar...

So idea came - why not make such production for Atari 2600 VCS where there is no memory (128 bytes do not count) to which you can store unpacked/generated data ;D

Written using Batari which is kind of BASIC translated to assembly. Graphics displayed using "titlescreen" kernel.

Dino graphics taken from materials provided by organizers.

Can you say more about Batari? Your design?

Batari Basic is BASIC-like language developed in 2005-2007 by Fred X. Quimby.

There is a forum on Atari Age for it and useful page called 'Random Terrain' with lot of interesting informations for it. There is also "Visual BB" which is IDE with some additional tools (version 1.0 build 566 recommended due to "titlescreen" kernel support).

My intro basically has two parts. First one is just simple playfield where one line changes every 30 frames (first version was NTSC and then I forgot to change it to 25) resulting in simple progress bar.

Second part uses "titlescreen kernel" to display 96x91px graphics provided by Xenium organizers. Rainbow colours were chosen to have some colours on screen.

hrw before the prize giving: luckily there were six entries so I won't have to worry about getting on stage and receiving prize for this crap
hrw after the prize giving: o crap, what do I do now?!

thumb up for a newbie, hoping to see more :-)

Motivational thumb for creating a VCS entry.

Additional thumb for becoming 3rd in an old-school demo compo with a VCS entry.

Hilarious thumb for coming 3rd in an old-school demo compo with a VCS entry done in Basic. Priceless!

Keep them going man! As Atari showed us - "128bytes is enuff !".
Or was it another fella with glasses for whom 640kb of memory was enuff... ;)

PS. Bâtard'i - name says it all! ;)

As I mentioned somewhere else - a HUGE motivational thumb up for turning a scene-watcher into a True Demoscener (tm).

AND THIS IS NOT EVEN YOUR FINAL FORM.

Kick some asses next year, there's no return now! :*

An interesting choice of platform, it was probably a big challenge. Good job!

Biter: most of time I spent in Gimp (converting graph is from orgas) and in Web browser reading AtariAge forum. Coding was simple - check github.
