                      an audiovisual demonstration
                                   by
                        Ü M L A Ü T D E S I G N
                           first presented at
                        F U N C T I O N 2 0 0 4

Created, designed, directed and composed by
                         GARGAJ / ÜMLAÜT DESIGN

                                  * * *

                        The presentation requires

                              DirectX 9.0b
(Ok, so there IS a valid way to fall back.)

                             6-700 Mhz CPU
(Not THAT important, runs really nice on my old 300 Celly,
just for precise syncing and really smooth framerates)

                    GeForce3/Radeon8500-caliber GPU
(Hogs fillrate like a maniac, sorry. Latest drivers recommended.)

                               Sound card
("Why is it so jittery?" "You mean the musicsync?")

                   Some additional HDD space (~700k)
(Looks like I didn't write the PE-loader yet... oh well.)

Final version now has support for
                      multiple rendertarget sizes.
                          The lower the faster,
                          the lower the uglier.

"Whenever you code it ends up as textwriters." /Leia/

So yeah. Finished. Kinda. Once again life proves it sucks, engines
prove they fail to work, third party applications prove their
incompetency and Gargaj proves that he can't sit still without
                            making a demo...

                   Yes, it's a one-man prod. So what?

This is not what you would expect.
This is not what I expected to turn out to be.
This is not what I intended to turn out to be.
This is something I might like even after releasing it.
                        This isn't revolutionary.
                            It's not even art.
It's just a part of me.

You might want to consider this as a tribute to my friends.

And before you ask - everything you see in the demo is synced by hand.
                Frequency checks are for Winamp-plugins.

Greetings to the ones who deserve it. They know.

                      Project Genesis Part 1 here.)

Some "postmortem" notes about the final version and the party:

I'd like to thank everyone at Function for being there and
supporting the scene this way, thank you for making all these
cool releases, thank you for being creative, thank you for
                           being good friends.

Massive respect goes to all (or well, most of :) the other
competing groups in the demo compo - you guys really deserved
to win more than I did.
(Additional note: The compo rules didn't allow writing to
the HDD, which this demo actually does. :/ )

Thanks go to Loaderror, Kusma, Reptile, Plek, Remage, Jimmi
and Preacher for bugreports and debug help.

An additional bug remains I couldn't find the
fix for: on Radeon8500/9100 cards the envmaps
might wrap wrong. It renders correctly with the
Reference Rasterizer so I don't know what to do.
Tried to contact ATI about the problem but they
                              didn't answer.
