        !VERTIGO Prod. 1996!
    (: Finished 6th at NAID96 :)

......................................

This is VERTIGOs First contribution to
the demoscene, and we have tried to
create something different from the
norm.

DreamCycle tries to combine design and
a purpose, instead of the latest trend
in demos.

In fact, we decided to include 0 3d, and
as we had guessed, ours was the only one
without 3d :).

This does not mean we Don't like 3D, far
from it! We just wanted to part from the
latest trend of "Show a 3d Object on
screen, and put a banner up that it is
XXXXXXX Polys".

Anyways, our next demo is planned to have
an advanced 3D engine, but will be very
different from the normal Demo Structure.
Rest assured of that :). Like we said, we
just wanted to remind the scene that Demos
are an artwork, and can be expressed any
way desired.

Also, we have implemented a new idea into
our demo, called an AutoRip, and external
data files command. Half because most of
the pictures where done in a hurry or where
donated by kind individuals, and it is
always cool to be able to improvise!
Enjoy, Email us what you think!

- Story Behind the demo?
(Related to you from Vector)
I heard about NAID 96 about a month before
it was slated to start, and VERTIGO a lone
coder with a cool musician at the time. So
off I was to hopefully create an innovative
demo with 1 coder and one month compared to
many others with 8-30 people and 6 months
notice.
Anyways, I was off for a month adventure
filled with Bacon crackers and missing the
Sympsons, to get this thing to the judges
3 minutes before the deadline :).
Anyways, we decided to make a totally
original demo, and what could be more original
than not using 3D, and having a storyline
kinda.
I got a little help along the way, lightman
came in a little before the compo, and
helped create the Psychadelic effect, and
the font for this demo. Plus moral support
and stuff :).
Finnally, about a week before the demo was
due for release, my SoundCard "Spontaniously
Combusted" on me. So I had to hope that the
demo was still synched to the music kinda :)
(Thanks much to Kain, for lending me his
lifesaving Gravis at the Party).
Anyways, It was off to listening to the same
CD over and over, until it struck me that
the words to one of the songs went great
with the demo, so we chose "Dream On" by the
beloved (CD recommended :). And it was in :).
And well, working I was, till 30 minutes b4
the party, when I realized there was a big
Bug in the program, and ended up handing it
in 3 minutes before, fixed up and ready to
go. Ran great in its final Version :).

- What is this Autorip Command?
Try it :)

.........................................
- What is this "Use your own Datafiles" comand?
Use the files that where ripped, edit em to
your desire, and use them in the same dir as
the demo with this command! :)
Have FUN! And if people really like this
idea, Ill make a list containing whate every
pic is involved in :)!

........................................
- The Demo Locks up On me, But Only Sometimes!!!
Yup! Me too! I dont get it! How can It only lock
up SOMETImes, but not always? One of those
Watcom Pragma Mysteries Perhaps... If I ever
figure it out, Ill upload a patch file or
something :)
Anyways, Bare booting with NOthing, or different
boots usually solves the problem. :)

.....................................
BTW: This demo is pentium Optimized...
don't tell us we didn't warn you :).

VERTIGO FAQ (Future AQ :) Version 0.1
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
What is VERTIGO?

VERTIGO: An overall feeling of nausea
and dizzyness; a cool movie by Alfred
Hitchcock; And of course, Us!.

Not so literal now!
VERTIGO: Is a group originally started in
Guatemala by Vector and Crow (Formerly
Billy Boy and Hodges Reversely Respectively
although unless you lived inside our heads,
you wouldn't know.... Neva mind :)
We had always loved making games, and in fact
VECTOR tought himself at the age of 5 to read
just to be able to code em :). Crow has always
been Into Music, and also dables in Code at
times :).
Until of course, we saw our first demo called
UNREAL :) God bless its soul... we have been
hooked ever since to the DemoScene as well as
the game
Lightman is in Spain, and joined
VERTIGO about 3 weeks before NAID 96, and
is quite a kewl coder. He helped Support us
with some ideas, and of course, the frase
"Of course No one will notice the V flickering
around the screen" Even though it sucked, and
we took care of it, it was cool support
anyways.
In the demo, he came up with the Idea for the
Psychich Flashback effect in the DreamCycle
demo, and drew the font for us :).
