The pHluid music player is a program for playing the S3M files that are
included with it. S3M files are those writen using Scream Tracker by
Sami Tehlito of the Future Crew. S3M supports up to 16 stereo channels
and over ?? effects. With pHluid Play the designers have tried to
create, within an convienient and organized program, the most interesting
visual features to go with the music. We also wanted to have a flexible
interface that could be easily manipulated every month to create new
looks by changing graphics and color schemes. This should allow for an
ever changing music disk that will stay interesting for months to come.

List Files ³

You can specify list files by placing an at symbol (@) in front of the
filename. List files can be placed inside other list files if you want.
If nothing is specified on the command line, the player will read ph.lst
as the list file.
If ph.lst is not found, the player will create a list of all the songs
in the current directory.
You can also specify a list file (using an at symbol), or a song on the
command line.
Full pathnames are valid, but notice how you must specify a list file:
c:\music\@my_songs.lst
** Note that the '@' symbol is directly in front of the file name. Not
in front of the whole pathname.

One important note: If you want pHluid Play to do any autodetection, make
sure you have your BLASTER or ULTRASND variable set.
From the command line, 'ph /?' will list the switches. Here's a better
explanation of them:
Sx - x=1 Use the Sound Blaster (mono) for output. The port address,
irq number, and dma channel will be autodetected, unless
also specified on the command line.
x=2 Use the Sound Blaster (stereo) for output. The port address,
irq number, and dma channel will be autodetected, unless
also specified on the command line.
x=3 Use the Gravis UltraSound (stereo, with panning) for output.
The port address, irq number, and dma channel will be
autodetected, unless also specified on the command line.
Ax The Port Address will be x, if it's within the allowable
range (2-8). Note that the specified value is the second
digit of the hex address - 0x2?0.
Ixx The IRQ number will be xx, if it's within the allowable
range (2-15). If it's outside this range, it will be
autodetected.
Dx The DMA channel will be x, if it's within the allowable
range (0-3). If it's outside this range, it will be
autodetected. Note that only the Gravis UltraSound uses
the DMA channel.
Fxx The speed at which the plasmafade is done is xx, if it's
and allowable number (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, or 32). Larger
numbers cause the plasmafade to be done faster, smaller
cause it to be done slower (and more accurately). If an
invalid value is specified, the default speed of 4 will
be used.
Vx The speed at which the VU-Meters (on the main playing
screen) decay. Higher numbers cause the meters to decay
faster, lower numbers cause it to decay slower. If the
specified value is not within the allowable range (1-4),
the default value of 2 will be used.
Tx The speed at which the Text window will scroll (also on
the main playing screen). Higher numbers cause the window
to scroll more quickly, lower numbers cause it to scroll
more slowly (and consequently more smoothly).
Lx x=1 No looping. pH Play will play the first song of the list,
and then exit. This only applies to when a song ends, not
to when a song is interrupted.
x=2 pH Play will loop the first song continuously. This
applies both to interrupted and non-interrupted songs.
x=3 pH Play will play the entire list and then exit. This
applies both to interrupted and non-interrupted songs.
x=4 pH Play will loop the entire list continuously. This is
the default looping setting.
W pH Play will write the current settings to disk. It will
store any autodetected information and any current command
line arguments.
R pH Play will reset all stored settings to the default, and
will autodetect all sound card information.
O pH Play will output a listing of the currently stored
settings.

þ Sound Blaster support isn't too perfect. It'll be replaced with
16 bit mixing in later versions.
