The 5th Annual Scene Awards

category: general [glöplog]
correction: TMB left scoopex and is no longer associated to any activity inside the group
(same applies to me btw since I also left...)

ps > seems to be much of a quest ! :(
A reference letter from David Hasselhoff or Chuck Norris will do it though.

dont wanna derail this thread, but uh.. evil: is there _anyone_ still left in scoopex now then? :P

no maali, this means scoopex is now an empty husk of once a great demogroup..

*pours out a beer for his lost homies*

may the big man in the sky give you the rest you deserve...

Maali: yes quite a few, namely Fishwave and Noogman

I still think there should be a change from "Vote for this year's best demo" to "Vote for the best demo/intro/anmiation of 2006".
ps:
you just proved scene.org award juries are biased by itself.

i think i called first scene.org award "a big messed up incest meeting", i've never changed my mind.

luckily they have called the whole thing now "scene award" instead of scene.org award so theyre officially leading us now and will tell us what stuff is cool and what not...

Well well you are free to organize your own awards. Up until know it was always meticulously called Scene.org Awards. I don't know what happened this year, though.

As for demos vs intros, you really have to be a taxonomist to really make a difference between an intro and a demo, when we ask you "best demo." You shouldn't be that incomfortable to judge 64kb and larger demos on an equal footing. Especially if their authors are comfortable enough with their work to have chosen this or that category.

<3 trolls.. oldskool trolls, newskool trolls, all of them.
how can we organize own awards if you and your elitist circle of whatever call yourself now allmighty SCENE awards while the awards are just coming from a small circle of ppl?

you claim now that youre the best and only real SCENE authorised award show just by taking this name which is in fact just a lie.

get back to the old name and for fuck sake stay away from developing your ego even further.
youre a independent award - nothing more and nothing less.
its nice to have something like this, but you dont have the right to make yourself to a official institution coz atm youre just a circle of somehow "connected" ppl.

change the name back and i will be fine.

xenusion it'd be nicer if you wrote a mail to staff@scene.org

added on the 2007-01-05 08:36:34 by _-_-__ _-_-__

how big would be the chance that it will get changed back if i would have written a nonpublic mail...

now its public and we will see how you will act.

btw just for the case of cases:
it only takes 15 mins to change the gfx of your page
so there is no real excuse for keeping the wrong title

I'm not part of the organization myself..

I agree with Xenusion to some extent here. A scene that is institutionalized ignores its own founding principle, i.e. creative anarchy, and will thus flatline in no time. Calling it the Scene Awards pulls it in that direction. It is nice to have an award show that spans the whole scene year, and big kudos to the organizers for this. But in no way should this monopolize on the term "scene" - especially when there is a jury involved.

Oh come on ppl, you already know theres only one real scene awards:

4Sceners best of 2006

And we don´t need to wait till easter for the results ;)

Yeah, and I'm sure that everyone think that "Die Ewigkeit scmertzt" is the very best demo of 2006.... *cough*

Thanks for the comments. This is in fact the first time we've heard any criticism on the new naming, good to hear it now and not when the diplomas are printed. :) Anyways, as opinions seem to differ, I set up a poll at Scene.org main website (http://www.scene.org/) and a follow-up comments there.

Xenusion, I actually do read Pouet threads very rarely - don't need to pretend to get a troll rash.

jesus fuck xen, it was just called scene awards this year instead of scene.org awards due to the site redesign, the designer just made that assumption, there aint no secret plot of the exploding rose of doom conspiring to steal the scene from anyone.

and regarding yours and others claims that we stick to our circles of friends to bias things in our view, besides it beeing a ridiculous lie, even it beeing true we do require people whom we trust and feel the responsibility to do the job properly, and someone knowing the person before hand helps significantly. but if we really wanted to just give our hints of bestof, we wouldnt have bothered with the whole international multiplatform jury thing, its a fucking hassle and people quite often disagree with our tastes rendering the final results a middle term that doesnt quite please the majority of the jury. but thats called democracy, the fact that we cant open it for the whole wide world to friendvote their way into stardom but need to focus on a scene-savy group of selected individuals doesnt make it less representative of the scene. yes its still biased like all things ever are, but we make an effort to ensure that its a somewhat a lobby free result. i really dont know what else to do to prove such claim.

eitherway, its your opinion and you're entitled to it, we do thank you for the feedback and we'll address it asap and implement the changes we see relevant.

also, i would like to hereby _demand_ that the worldcharts gets renamed to scoopex charts while we are at it. they're obviously trying to take the world from us. -_-

its not a opinion its a fact.

you dont have the right to call yourself scene awards as youre just a selfnominated bunch of ppl who silently renamed their awards show into a official sounding one.

use the old name like before
or simply make public votes if you really think that you need the public scene label (but obviously thats not what you want).
added on the 2007-01-05 12:03:14 by xeNusion xeNusion
dear ps all other charts have public votes instead of a mafia like jury.

thus theyre more representative than your scene.org awards.

" but thats called democracy"

you dont really want to try to tell me that your invite only nordic fanclub is democratic ?!
that would really be a bad joke

just keep it low and everything is fine
