[!] Game dev question..

category: general [glöplog]
Is that mark of success for game designers when their game is released by Fairlight or another oldskool cracking group? What do you think?

Becouse i think nobody wants to see how his hard work is cracked and released by newbies and lamers. Every game is released on P2P now, so maybe game developers should give best cracking groups and old legends (Deviance, TRSI, Razor 1911, Fairlight) their stuff before oficially launch or give them greetings in manual or officialy rights to release..

Should publishers pay them for best advertisment on the web and distribution?

If you were a game designer (maybe you are already) - which crack group release would make you proud of your work?

Most game developers i know don't care about who crack / spread their games. But I know that most of them get happy WHEN they are cracked/spread, since it can improve their CV if lots of people get to play / hear about the game.

I have always been puzzled about the way commercial applications and games tend to hit the illegal market long before they hit the stores. Perhaps some vendors deliberately distribute their software among piracy groups? Do they provide the crack themselves? If so, does cracking exist? If not, then what is a cracking scene and why is distribution of the application or game illegal? What is Fairlight and what does Defacto2 has to do with it? Is there a truth or is it all an evil conspiracy planning to rule the world (and Norway)?
haha what the hell :)

are you rasmus?
Don't copy that floppy!
well, think software houses may prefer old legends to crack & release their work on the scene, it's fame question :) To see Fairlight logo before game is quality mark :) All oldschool guys will remember this game for years :) And it's better spread than 'on ground' shops :-) personally my choice is TRSI or RAZOR 1911 coz old fame :D

greetz :)

Cracking your own game is even cooler (happened with a certain Amiga game back then!). :)

Akira, let me reassure you: gamedevs don't give a shit about warez crews and their so called eleetness.

Plus, this thread wins the "most retarded thread of the month" award.

(Don't worry Magic^Nah, February is coming, you'll have your turn as usual)

that said, if i were a game designer, then only a 0-day release by limp ninja would satisfy my lust for glory.

ps. as ex. swapper think personally so called software companies will PAY MONEY to old legends like RAZOR1911 or TRSI coz massive product-spreading around the globe :) think it is better & faster way than classic shops :)

i think everyone who tries to earn his money with making or selling games celebrates a whole weekend when their product is finally cracked and is copied by everybody !

Its like we all would celebrate if our flat or house is invaded by burglars - who would not celebrate that finally everybody knows you ?

All those game dev lamers have no choice but get fame via those cracker heros ! Huuuuuuurrrrraayyyy to them !!!

This thread is so 1987.
And in 1988 we had ex-crackers developing copy protections for games already. :D HQC and Giana Sisters anyone? :D
