Cooking culture in Finland

category: general [glöplog]

Everyone in Finland use microwave ovens, and not those power hungry convection toaster ovens used in Germany, France, USA, etc.
So I need a toaster oven, to be used for reflow soldering my electronic projects... Webshops in Germany don't want to ship to Finland, at least I haven't found a webshop that do.
I need this oven.

Anyone wants to help getting one of those shipped over to Finland?

And yes, this is quite on-topic for being Pouet.

w00t, you can't buy mini-ovens in Finland?
I have such an oven in my basement, collecting dust. I can bring it to BP, if you'll be there?
No, I won't come to BP.
Is yours exactly the one I linked to, or some other type? What is the power rating and internal volume (litres)? Is it a convection oven?

I already got one from a second hand store which isn't powerful enough (8,5 liter and 650 W --> ~75 W/litre). I'm looking for a convection oven (those with a fan) that has small internal volume and high power rating, that would yield ~150 W/litre.

Why don't you get a microwave oven with "grill" feutures? It's basically the same thing if not entirely.

However, the good part of having a "real" oven is that you can keep it warm for hours without getting ruined.

Yeah, putting metal things like solder in a microwave oven is a brilliant idea, grill feature or not.
thom:
If you only use the grill feuture no microwaves will be broadcasted so you will be OK. I do it all the time. hell, they even sell those with metal plates to "grill" on. (How else would you do it?)

Timbaland: The idea is to get get *very* high power in a small volume. The grill usually in the roof of a micro is too low power.
At the "solder phase" in reflow soldering, the temperature must be raised very quickly to ~220 degC. Something like 1-2 degC / second.
