allright, so who else ripped and cheated? give us the gossip scamp! did the 96k sumo game stream all physics from the intarweb? was the music in debris actually a trance mod by wayfinder from the kosmic free music foundation played backwards? was the rapping on 'retrorespect' actually performed by jay-z and used without permission? i just can't wait!

Nutman, that is the specific reason why we disqualify songs that do not get played in the competition: we do not spread disqualified tunes, so they are not released and you can try your luck at another party.

Addendum: other parties might not have the same policy though, so if someone is submitting a track with which they know they've tried to compete before, just to be on the safe side, they should check whether it's already online somewhere.

wayfinder: Assembly spreads everything contributed, I believe.

What`s the point with these rules when that Desert Dream C64 demo is not disqualified?

It's a cover, it falls under the covering law. Ask any punkband how that works!

Ok ... the 3rd place of the compo was stolen ... not a big deal... what else ?...I more shocked by the fact that 80% of the material used in the STS demo is reused ... but well im probably not fun enougth

the fact is that the STS is the funniest demo of the compo :P

nytrik: it was used with permission! Falls under the parody law, so it's legal!

nytrik: Actually there isn't much more it seems. Yup, no big deal.

After the party organizing stress it takes a few days until I'm back to normal levels. The subject chosen for this thread is an overreaction.

Getting some sleep last night helped though ;)

Will there be public fuckings to the culprits in next year's BP invite?

I talked to the STS guys about their Deities remix, and actually the only thing they really reused is one effect (right in the beginning) which also is partly reworked. Only the two 3d models were used as they were in the original (with different kind of rendering though) and after all it was a remix.

So I'd say it had more new material than some other demos in the same compo, when it comes to groups recycling their effects from demo to another.

On and naturally the music was a remixed version of the original, but lots of reworking there too.

hey, those sts guys took something good and made it into a work of comedy gold - thats the kindof remix i can get on board with :)

rainmaker, that's what they SAY about it. did they let you see the code?
added on the 2007-04-12 13:38:37 by nosfe nosfe
gloom: True, but I'm 99.99% sure the Assembly' "competition contract" stated that non-qualified entries will not be distributed and last year they violated this rule.

rainmaker i'm pretty sure the STS guys are lying to you. The tree must've been ripped from the code as well. And they did not ask permission, they just told us they're doing the remix (which we did give OK to, though, since they're such nice guys and do cool stuff)

I wonder if they got their hands on the code via gargaj since i gave him my old usb mp3-player at tum and didn't check what was on it.. later i found out that the whole deities codebase (party-version, not final) was on that stick :-(

He's a guy from Hungary. Look at Tomcat's T-Shirts and you know how they handle copyright laws. ;)
STS = Kelwers + MFX right? :)

Okkie: That might be the rumour, but somehow I feel uncomfortable with STS-09. I fear they are sick dutch fucks.
