No matter if he rips photos or not, he's just a photoshop king, period.
Awesome work.

Another king ;)

The irony is that he is copying a heavily photoshopped photo (which has most likely little to do with the original photo).

And there are tons and tons of speed paintings on youtube etc.

speed painting for example
you set clock 30min
draw...
stop when clock hits 30minutes

without refence or from live refence for example live model... at least what i consider speedpainting

we know, but the painters dont ;)
Uns3en: Ah that's right, you're a really talented artist who can do this sort of stuff with no effort at all. But you're way too ashamed of your work to show anyone, right?

For an "artist" to get the attention of Poueters, he'd be better drawing some squares on a black background and setting it to some white noise.
*sigh*

I would like to see a speed coder. A speed gfxian is pretty much useless, unless you have the code ready at a party but have no gfx.

In these industrialized times, it seems quite silly if not sick or downright dangerous to reward people acting like automatons.

chriz: Copying is a fun exercise, but it's only that. It's not creative, takes no talent, just a bit of practice (yarly) and demoscene frowns upon it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz4XOr8iYvY <- see, a lot less realistic and detailed, but at least I'm more than a human photocopier.

Actually I think speedpainting is a good thing. Once upon a time I did several 30 minute copies a day. It can help to sharpen your eye. Sooner or later you get bored start painting your own stuff.

I think the demo scene does need more of those guys:

I mean not all of the them, but they have quiet talented people over there.

Whether one like it or not it's well done.
And I actually learnt about a tool ( the grid deformation ). I should check PS CS3
