New Wiki version of Scenery; please help bring it up to date.

category: general [glöplog]

The new Wiki based exotica site has gone online! A cool upshot of this is that there is that the old Scenery Amiga & C64 demoscene history database is available in Wiki form. Please check your groups page and help bring it up to date..

There's already the scene.nl wiki. Too many wikis about the same subject lead to... profit.

Not a bad idea to make it into a wiki version. So, so much to add/correct though.. Quite a task for any number of people. Also, I pray only people with actual knowledge go and edit it. Imagine some newschooler going at it using Freax vol.1 as their source, adding all of the book's numerous made up / misunderstood "facts" without checking.. :)

Ok, I _really_ hope you're not using Scenery as your reference material. :)

Hollowman: Lol, I had totally forgotten writing about that! :D

But yes, people tend to start believing in misinformation if it's repeated often enough. I haven't been into that nitpicking mood much lately, but when I do, going over the Wiki-Scenery might not be a bad idea :)

How about auto-generating some pages based on CSDB which has pretty much all the info you need on the C64 scene?

Xernobyl: irony has it that Scenery's platform-centric focus was a reason for SceneWiki to be initiated in the first place.

from platform-centric to nationality-centric - good call :)

Could you tell me where the nationality centric bit occurs?

Probably because it's .nl - registered in Neverland!

Am I the only one hating "Wiki-based sites" with a fucking vengeance?

gloom: why? I spend most my free time on Wookiepedia and the information you can get there is astounding! I never knew so many people worked on both Deathstars!!!

"Wiki-based sites"

If by that you mean websites that pretend to be a normal websites and use mediawiki as a CMS, then yes. I have no problem with Wikis themselves.
