add to all that the revived andromeda, cocoon and that mysterious "orb". Remember this.. orb is up to something this time.

navis: ah, but there's a major difference between those groups and the few like fr (+fiver), tbl, and plastic. the win isnt "guaranteed" with them.

More important, is it useful ?

Three groups with the win guaranteed. This will be interesting indeed, Smash. ;)

My money is on plastic, as they have that special combo move "death from utter boredom" hidden up their sleeve. Their demo will be so long and tedious that they will totally dominate the compo.

it's an old pouet bbs joke (yeah we know..)

It is? I thought I came up with it now, and I was in fact very happy with myself for an instance there. Oh well... so much for comedy. ;)

The compos will be interesting, yes. Do you guys think that the Coccoon screenshots will work to their advantage? I'm not sure. Now everybody know what to expect.

A big flyby, that is.

archmage: no, the "ubber demo" is an old pouet bbs joke. There has been a thread in the past asking for coders musicians and artists from different groups to collaborate in order to make the super demo to end all other demos. Yeah as if that would ever work.

Archmage: We already know what to expect from a Cocoon demo called "Shad 3". Depending on your viewpoint, this may or may not be a good thing :) (I know what I think...)

For the cocoon stuff: yeah it looks like a flyby, probably a cross between COMA and raw confessions.Raw confessions is one of my favourite demos of all time, and it is the least fly-byish of the modern cocoon demos. So if shad 3 (the new cocoon demo) is more raw confessions than shad2 then it is a winner.

a lot of groups can make a decent demo, but those groups just know how to *win*. it's that extra touch, the bombasticness. knowing how to really sell the shit. i envy it actually. :)

I don't. Ok I do ;) but I'd rather see all those talented guys go experiemental, just even once in a while (like ASD does).

Everyone knows that "massive" stuff always gets alot of votes, but it's not very creative nor inspiring just by being massive. You know what i'm talking about.

rainmaker: well, we've always tried to be creative and massive at the same time.
still looking for the one time it actually works out. :)

Here we go with the flyby debate....
When there are meshes and not genreted cubes...it's a flyby

on the subject of big demos and titles, can you tell me what "Track 1" by fairlight actually means ? I think that, unless I'm missing some obvious connection, this name was not very fitting to the demo and as such, took some of the shine off the demo.

navis: nothing, it's just cool. :)

I think it's stupid to publish screenshots if you have a good demo. Mediocre demos would benefit from the publicity but a there's less wow-effect if you have seen the shots before the compo. ... I think.

I second that. And isn't there a vinyl player in there somewhere too? Playing track one? Or is that the other one?

About screens: spoilers are lame, so I hope they choke on it.

what would that be like? tbl had no active musicians for years, or did that change lately? =)

Well, camera moving around in scenes that have: robots, guys in robot suites, industrial tubes and factories, television rigs => I'd call that a flyby. I sure hope you don't have heavy breaks for music aswell.

But i'll wait for the demo itself before i bash it :D
