3rd annual Intel Demo Competition

category: general [glöplog]
The Intel Demo Competition is back. This year with the same ruleset as last year. That means that you have to apply to compete in order to become part of the competition.
From all the applicants 4 teams get chosen to compete against last years winner STILL.

You apply for the competition by submitting what you think was your best demo so far. An international jury will decide who competes and who not solely by the quality of the submitted demo.

if you get chosen to compete you will recieve a full blown PC with an Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 CPU. The winner will get even more PCs :)

To apply got to intel.de/demoscene

Have fun!

When are the deadlines for this compo ?

If A =deadlines for this compo and B= The date we know who is choosen ... what does A-B represents ?
I guess Navis needs A and I would really like to know B.

the deadlines are:

A = Deadlines for sending the demos so that the jury can select the other 4 (end of April)
B = When we find out
C = Deadline for sending your NEW demo
D = Voting Deadline and award ceremony

But C-B > 2 months and D-C > 1 month. so D-A > 3-4 months at least. Isn't it so ?

D-C is not that important : the job is (well) done !

nytrik: Cocoon participating ?

that would be interesting. Looking back at last year's intel compo demos, there was a diversity amongst the entries. Maybe the compo needs some eye-cancer to go against the well sculptured meshes of cocoon and still :-).

we're staying clear of it this year, so somebody else will have to handle the eye cancer :)

nytrik: depends on the party. Your demo, as I said, could have won any other competition (including ofcourse asm, gathering, evoke, and the intels/nvision too) except breakpoint. And only because breakpoint is trully unpredictable - anything can happen ! !

And there is always "E". "E" is for Evoke.

A = Deadlines for sending the demos so that the jury can select the other 4 (24th of April)
B = When we find out (5th of may)
C = Deadline for sending your NEW demo (30th of june)
D = Voting Deadline (1st of august)
E = award ceremony / Evoke (8th of august)

that less than 2months to do the demo .... wow
added on the 2008-04-17 15:20:05 by nytrik nytrik
well, most of demos are made up from old code in two hours at a party. two months is plenty. :)

can someone explain to me why Intel gives only so little time? I mean, they could give half a year if they know they'll make the compo each year, couldn't they?
added on the 2008-04-17 15:44:07 by Axel Axel
they're too busy fixing the breakpoint prize licenses first ;)
