nystep: i don't take that corporate flamewar too seriously, fortunately, but like bigcheese i find the underlying technical evolution quite fascinating.

i bet on a merger between intel and nvidia, i guess intel will buy nvidia in 2009 or 2010 :>

I'm starting to get worried for nvidia. See, investing in the demoscene, making events such as nvision, weird statements in the media.. acting strange. Lack of presence in the cheapo integrated gfx market..
But they are still my bestest friends!
nvidia is dead until they start making general purpose CPUs (unlikely..) or are bought by Intel :)
I for one am looking forward to a new oldschool-alike "software" rendering future :)

Simply call Captain Obvious to the rescue:
- Nvidia, GPU company, says that CPU rendering is dead
- Intel, CPU company, says that GPU rendering is dead
So they only want to continue selling their products.

So GPUs and CPUs are both dead? What's that leave? Physics processors?

My CPU and my GPU are still alive. Something must be wrong with this thread's hypothesis.

Yeah, but that is only for one specific application type, for 99% of the other tasks supercomputers are used it craps all over that GPU system.

quoting a comment from that page

Am I the only one seeing those alternative uses of GPUs as some kind of re-birth of the Amiga design?

AMIGAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Amiga truly was ahead of its time ...
Does that sentence makes any sense?
I can't see what amiga has to do with a few GPUs working in parallel. Please enlighten me.
