I first remember Crest from the BBS days in the mid-90's. There was this GSN demoscene network and he was always there to post the latest reports and results from various parties. Later on I met him on various demoparties in Germany and elsewere in Western Europe, and there was always one thing we could talk about and share enthusiasm with - demos. Nevertheless it was obvious he wasn't much of a social person, even to a point where you can call it a sickness, it didn't matter that much in the end. Lot of sceners are bad with social contacts, but it's all forgotten when you're in front of the big screen and watching a demo. It's sad to hear about ending your life, hopefully you found a peace this way. I'll drink to you the next time watching a demoshow!

rip crest.

Depression kills. Get a therapy if you are affected, push people you know who suffer from it into therapy.

I can't say much about Crest since I didn't know him.

All I can say is: If you are not pleased with how society evolves around you, use your anger to make a change and speak loud out about it. If you don't like what is happening around you suicide doesn't change anything, makes it even worse because you leave the world to those who makes things worser.

So: Don't be destructive to yourself but destructive to those who harm you and others. That can change the world and maybe provide some hope in the end - even for yourself.

Salinga, there are far better advices in books written long ago, by people such as Seneca or Epictetus.

To quote the latter:

Quote:

Of existing things some are in our power,
others not in our power.
In our power are conception, effort, desire, aversion
and in a word whatever are our actions;
but not in our power are the body, property, reputation,
rulers and in a word whatever are not our actions.

Also things in our power are by nature
free, unhindered, unimpeded,
but things not in our power are
weak, slavish, hindered, belonging to others.

So remember, that if
what is by nature slavish you think free
and what is others' your own,
you will be hindered, you will mourn, you will be disturbed,
and you will blame both gods and humans,
but if you think only yours is yours,
and another's, just as it is, another's,
no one will ever compel you, no one will hinder you,
you will not blame anyone, nor accuse someone,
not one thing will you do unwilling,
no one will harm you, you will have no enemy,
for you will suffer no harm from anyone.

=( I'm really sad to read this.. I first met Crest at TG95, and then several times at later parties. I never knew him that well, so I didn't know he had such issues.. The death of a scener is always terrible news. Rip, Crest. :(

Thanks Crest: for the awesome demoshows, demo reports, diskmag collections and passion in our demoscene. (and for the comments about our joke entry at evoke) Much respect and RIP. Cheers

He decided this on his own. So I deeply hope for him, it was the right decision he made.

TMB+Reebok: what kind of a comment is that? If you have nothing to say: stay out of threads about subjects you don't understand.

Staying out of threads about subjects you DO understand, and probably even better than the party organizers in question, is hard enough. Let me just say this event makes me kinda raise an eyebrow in bewilderment.

I can sympathsize with his feelings, stuck in a 9 to 5 job, get up go to work come home, get paid sheet, the working poor, injustice all around, people these days geting colder, lacking love, self fish.

The scene provides a last hope of true freedom, where its not all about the money, but the love of demos, sharing, creativity, community, family.

Theres alot of darkness in this world, but theres always light, and I guess his light was the demoscene.

RIP Crest!

... and at the risk of being bashed as a christian believer... People's bodies may die, but their spirits live on. Crest is not dead, but sleeping, and at the end of the age, when Christ returns, he will be raised again into a new heavenly body, where corruption or death or diease is no more.
Amen!

I have a bad gut feeling about the revival of this thread. I think it would be best left untouched from now on.
ok,passing a R.i.P. should be ok...even if i didn´t know him (maybe in the past, but i forgot about my past long ago anyway) and even missed his very_last demoshow @the only evoke i ever visited so far because i came late_saturday_evening...

still it hurt me when i got this Thread on my Screen and today it still hurts, because i lost a lot of people in my life already, but 4 months before evoke07 took place i lost my dad, which finally has shown me how hard the loss of a loved_person can hurt at all..!

Rest in Peace,Demolover.! Rest in Peace,Crest.!

P.S.: Crest and Lemmus should be enuff....stop this shit already.! ( don´t even think about it! )
Sorry to hear that cocoon about your dad, I lost my Dad too last year.

did not realize crest died last year, but yeh not trying to start any debates, just offer some comfort and respect!.

lotek: followed your link and read this:

Quote:
"Guillaume CHABERT, aka Sygne "Von Motorola", died on the day
of March 15th 2005. His heart could not sustain any more his body,
deeply wounded after several cars accidents."

How the hell do you get into several cars accidents that makes your heart stop? I'd say one would be enough?
