the Scene Code

category: general [glöplog]

once again i stumbled upon the Geek Code and thought it could be fun to have a scene code, to geekly and quickly see who's doing what (rather than pure description of an individual)

here's the specs so far (and my code strip as example)

<scener code v0.1
At23+* Ca--c+!j* Ms+l* D+* O Rp+d Pw!mo
/scener code>

! never tried, not interrested
? never tried, willing to learn
* won compos/awards
$ also do it for a living
+++ would kill to do it
++ will do it even if not for a demo
+ like to do it
(no sign) maybe if i have time to waste
- will do if i have to
-- will do only if i have to

Hm yeah, this was funny when we still used plain ASCII usenet and email.

now I AM sure atleast....wait...gotta watch the table again, what did i do all ?
scenecode is inherently redundant because if you're a scener and want to get to know someone, you go to a party and meet that person. unix geeks dont do that, so they strip down the whole friendship business to a mess of characters - which is what they do with everything.

like optimus said, it's just a geeky waste of time ...should fit well on pouet :)

pff.. it's really not that much different from a myspace page. Just a tad more geeky and more than 1 decade earlier. It's not limited to computer geeks btw.

I actually like it but cannot read it fast. Also the original geekycode mentioned linux and assembly and even doom but not the demoscene. That's a shame (except if sceners don't think of themselves as geeks but as superstars or anything). Demoscene rocks but nobody knows it (and that's why it rocks) and they all speak about "hackers" and shit like that. Is demoscene geeky or not? Maybe it is demosceeky? A new variation of geeky that is not geeky? Aughhyyyy..

Just be more pretentious:

You can still use the original code.

sorry, but this somehow sounds way too true, haha !

i remember this discussion being held group-intern in 1992 already...i wont tell the groups-name ofcoz here ! ;) but its just a topic-to-be-closed ! ( there´s no CLOSED @pouet, c00n... "i dont care, close it !" )

gotta annex: its not EASY to find some friends on a party, but if you´re into talking anyways.... ;) ;) ;) ( hints included :) )

you cannot get understood as you ARE here....this is I-NET !
it's been done before ... although it probably needs to be brought up to date. Not that I'd ever bother to make mine ;)
