NDS productions (crack-intros).

category: general [glöplog]

I am observing (from time to time) a NDS scene and I must say I do not see to many prods. Especially crack-intros.

1. Is it such a difficult platform to code on? I do not think so since it herited some GBA logic, so coding on it via a common davkit should be quite similar, I guess.
Or simply, nowadays noone is interested. Too many consoles.

2. 0-day scene.
Are there really NO crack-intros at all? Whaddaheck? Thousands of games, many groups trying to win the points and NO coders to code a decent looking intro? So these groups are a bunch of ppl knowing only how to use a dump-cartridge stuff.
Or there are but difficult to attach, to rip.

I saw only 3 of them, and among them only 2 were for productions (one Amiga Interpol remake).

Even GBA was in a FAR better situation.

"Intros on handheld consoles (Amiga/PC rips with intros were commonplace) started with the Gameboy game Hollywood Pinball when the release group Capital included a small intro with their release of said rom and in doing so caused an uproar."
"Intros can cause problems with flashcarts but are considered undesirable/annoying by most and many will seek to remove them."

Yep, man, it can make a good excuse, but look, you can have a clear ROM, without any crack-release intro and later, if you wish, IPS it with your fav. proggy! And be happy to see a intro scrolly with a nice blipblop chip and a +++++ trainer.

At least I was happy collecting games only for crackintros ^^.

So ok, players want to have a clear ROM to be sure it will work on any flash card. But knowing you can IPS a ROM, I have not seen any IPS file with an intro for NDS.

Is it because nowadays noone really care about the intros? I suppose. Or there are not too many competiting groups? Maybe too.
Saying that ppl do not like to read nor do not want to wait to skip the intro is somkinda strange as a reason.

perhaps, man...

Anyway, if there are no intros = noone need nor miss them.

Cheers!

Sim, why don't you go make a cracktro about it? The NDS scene NEEDS it!

but sure 1) there's 2D and 3D acceleration so there has to be more complexity in it. 2) if there was some decent game maybe there would be some decent intros, but really those who dump nintendogs probably don't have interrest in keeping the traditions (or maybe don't even know either what are cracktros nor how to code one!)

Hum. You think so?

Believe me or not, I am currently re-coding my old GBA cracktro in my spare time. Just to finish that old-school intro once for all.
Till now have some problems, but looks quite OK on a GBµ 20th Mario Edition (I use the same colours =)!

1). I agree, but I am not at a good place to talk about it. Have no skiils here.
2). Dude, you made me smile. There is sth about it, indeed.

Humm, maybe one day I will install a NDS devkit to see it a little?

Yep, since because I noticed some errors and uncorrect behaviour, I try to improve it (and learning more).
