.Kkapture a demo for me, please

category: general [glöplog]

So, I have a demo which do not run on my own old hardware. Still, I want to see it running full speed and thats why I'm here right now. Can some lovely nice guy(girls too) with newish hardware give me his/hers email address so I can send the demo to him/her to .kkapture?

Just to .kkapture, not to publish or distribute. When you are done, just send the movie file back to me. I appreciate your time.

60 fps, please.

Is there something wrong with my english or what is the problem? Was that message so important for you to send?

I think Preacher ment to ask you why not for publication and to distribute
why ot share it with others once kkaptured..

The point of my message was to express my astonishment of a request that goes so much against the culture of the scene. In effect you are saying "Please let me bother you with my request that will lead to no gain on anyone elses side except mine", or, put perhaps a bit milder, "I have an old demo that I do not want you to see".

It doesn't work that way around here.

The answer to his question is most likely: dosbox.

1. Are you harvesting e-mail adresses?
2. Is the demo full of trojans?

Just asking :P

The demo is for the next Assembly, so thats the reason, why it is not yet to be published. Of course, after the party, it will be found from pouet.

And the demo contains only supercool effects, not trojans. :)

he's asking for people with newish hardware so i guess its not an old demo, but a fairly recent one requiring a decent setup. saying that he's not going to redistribute - i think he wasnt trying to be selfish but just to say has no untoward intentions to missuse the resulting kkapture...

however the

is a bit of a selfish, only-thinking-of-myself way to put it, i wouldnt waste my fairly low uplink bandwidth sending you the video file back, infact i wouldnt even do it in the first place, something about all this still smells a bit fishy though :)

You code a demo that does not run on your own hardware?

"You code a demo that does not run on your own hardware? "

Yes?

Of course it runs, but too slowly.

If you get cranky nobody will help you. This is a demo database, so it would make sense if you'd submit the "demo" to the database for everybody to enjoy (if it fits the style of "demo"s that can be found here).

Could you explain how this prevents you from kkapturing it yourself?

This guy is not making much sense either way. First he says, it doesn't run on his hw, then it does, but he can't kapture it? wth. :)

yeah somethings a bit fishy here :)

too slow... :)

If it runs on your hardware with all effects, but is too slow you can still kkapture it at a decent framerate. It just takes some time. Give it a go.

.kkapture simulates infinitely fast hardware - so it should be possible for yourself to do it. But it might be a good idea, to watch it on good hardware to see if everything is optimized as it should, and I personally don't know if that works in practice. I know of screen capture software, but I haven't tried them on demos, maybe some of the other people here can shed some light on that... Maybe you should try the .kkapture seminar by ryg, which is quite good, it also explains some ideas for how to make yourself compatible with .kkapture.

Oh, I didnt understand kkapture too well, so I suppose I just wasted your time. No need for emails anymore.

kkapture isn't fraps. if the demo runs on your machine, you can capture at any framerate you want - that's kinda the point. :)
