stunning as in "probably the best cg i have ever seen and put together in so good taste!"

that's indeed awesome, but wouldn't it be better to have a "random awesome" thread (or "demoish videos", or whatever), instead of opening a new thread for every new awesome thing?

He is good, but not a genius. He borrows a ton of stuff made by other people, including meshes (no, he did not model all this architecture himself by hand), textures, skyboxes and so forth. Add some plug-in magic (hello trees!) and a lot of patience and you too could do this. Or at least 25-50% of it. He has a knack for compositing, colors and is in the know when it comes to film(ing) techniques, but again, it's not a miracle. :)

To bad the music score is awfully boring. Quite painful.
Anyway that would be embarassing if this guy would be as talented in audio as he is in video.

stunned. I can also barely believe it was CG. When I first saw it I had read nothing and totally believed it was all filmed, then I saw the credits and read the text, and I was blown away and watched it again.

the quality of that work is awesome.

but i fucking love how you can read the pouet comments on basically anything, no matter how good it is, and hear someone say how actually, it's pretty crappy and anyone (especially the poster) could do it if they could be bothered..
"that cure for cancer was clever but not genius. anyone with a decent background in chemistry could have done it, and they borrowed a lot of research off other people.."

"and besides, the trick of winning the 100m dash at the olympics is simply to run faster than the others - it's not rocket science, really."

If that was a stab at me, why don't you say so instead of this funny "you know who I mean" charade, as if you were above a lowly pouet discussion.

But, yes, let's compare making a very good 3d clip made with stolen meshes and textures with a breakthrough of the century thing ("the cure for cancer").

Noone here said is was "crappy". I said it was very good, but "not a miracle". Pretty big difference really. I also did not say I want/can do it, I said "you too" (meaning a fair portion of industry professionals, including some people who post here) can do "25-50%". And that's a low estimate. I think that is a reasonable assessment.

plaf: relax, it's pouet.
Awesome work. But some of the architecture is ugly :)

Tomaes: the stuff you listed as being stolen or whatever are a. stuff you'd generally download off the net because it's not worth the time to do it yourself, and b. not the stuff that makes this video so good.

It's like looking at debris and saying that most people here can download visual studio and a copy of kkrunchy, and code some cube effects. True, but somewhat missing the point :)

Never a statue to the glory of critics has been erected before. So those with your silly comments, just enjoy what you'll never be able to do because of your damn frustration for lack of your positivism.
Now think. What kind of comments and CdC and demo awards and usual hysterical idolatry would it deserve if it was a demoscene "product" shown at ... let me think... Breakpoint?
I bet it would become instantly legend or something.

Also resuming creation to technical facts is just a full joke and it's where this beautiful video succeeds: you don't think to technical aspects. You're just being moved by what you're seeing which looks unusual. (oh, we're on Pouet, so it's just my stupid own opinion)...

ANYWAY, brilliant work that made my day. This guy is so skilled. Many thanks for posting.
