The world must stop capitalism to continue its existence... discuss

category: general [glöplog]
The north countries have made too much profit destroying the whole world and resources, despite having a following of the best ecologists and socialists ideas.
Some might argue that it is a failure for there not to be money tied into this world...

DISCUSS!

while capitalism combined with democracy sucks bigtime sometimes, it's the only model that actually works for everybody.
there are a lot of other models that are way better, but only in theory. communism is great, if nobody were selfish that is.
whynot move to china? capitalism + not democracy = win?

"it's the only model that actually works for everybody."
define everybody.
Just plant more food and less drugs.

crossbow:
china is full of cencor and corruption. that doesn't seem good to me at all.

and with everybody i mean everybody. sure, there are still poor people in capitalistic democracies, but you can't get rid of all of them. at least they don't have to work in sweatshops.

well, the original marxist meaning of socialism is about auto-management by the base level, with people deciding themselves democraticaly what they produce. This idea of socialism has always been corrupted and destroyed by all leninisms, and all national powers, but it works when it happens to be in place.

krabob : well, yeah, that's the problem. the marxist model, it goes out from the assumption that people are good, kind, altruistic, never lazy, willing to make big eforts for everybody with only profit for them selves in the long term and all kinds of other rainbow fairy crap.
whynot2000: You forget the people capitalists exploit worldwide in your definition of everybody..
I remember a french guy who said : "Capitalism is men exploiting other men. Communism is the opposite". Hope my translation is accurate enough.

Oh my God, a mature discussion. I'm so proud.

However, I just want to comment on what whynot2000 said.

Capitalism + Democracy definitely doesn't work for everyone and China is the greatest example. I'm not sure that capitalism in that country would be anything but disastrous. Because of their incredible population, a competitive environment like that of capitalism would simply ensure that the majority of the country would suffer greatly. As sad as it is for someone like myself who is generally right-winged, a left-wing environment is possibly the only thing that can guarantee that only the minority has terrible living conditions.

What about developing a more subtle syncretism ? Democracy mixed with capitalism, was it good or not, is already one... What do you think 'bout it ?

all great cultures will conquer lesser cultures (unless they have a filthy hippie infestation given access to positions of decisionmaking). I'm quite intrigued by Anarcho-capitalism, but it would never work in practice. Same goes for the rest of the individualist anarchist ideologies too (all of which I'm a big fan of) unfortunately. Regardless, less really is more, and we need fewer laws fuckin' with our freedom and individuality.

crosbow: poor and dumb people WANT to be exploited. they want to have popculture to follow and give their live meaning. there's nothing real in there live (except love, maybe) so they need something artificial.

Silver Slimer: why do you call china the greatest example of a Capitalism + Democracy? are you dumb are what? China is corrupt communism pretending to be a democracy + corrupt leninistic capitalism. it's nowhere near western REAL demo+capi...
you don't need to look at what they call themselves, but at what they are. extreme example: the nazi's were supposed to be a socialistic party. not quite.
The world must get rid of all the "-isms" to continue its existence ... no discussion

I think there is a middle ground between socialism and capitalism.

I suggest everyone read The Shock Doctrine, anyway.
