hey, I'm on holidays so modizer dev is not progressing very fast... ;-)

however I fixed some bugs and I'm currently building an acceptable (means reduced) database for modland access so that apple does not reject the app when I'll submit it for appstore distribution.
Basically all copyrighted stuff will be deleted (nes, supernes, megadrive, playstation, pcengine, gameboy -...- music files).
However you'll still be able to download stuff from websites & use ftp to put whatever you want ;-)

I hope to have something submitted before the end of the month.

Can you send me beta test ipa file?

If you need anyone to test your app on iPhone 4, I'd be glad to help out.
I have ModBox but it hasn't been updated in a long time and the database has actually been offline quite a bit too. Very disappointing support :(

Sorry but I'm away from home for holidays and I cannot generate a beta version right now...

It would be nice if you would start a new thread about it with some screens and updates.
I try bunch of mod players from appstore - all of them are horrible, so I have really high hopes for this one.
What I would like to have in it?

- ipad/iphone compatible (full resolution, not just zoom in)
- background playing even with screen off and when you press home button (so you can read books or surf on internet just like with mp3)
- full page sample text info (reading the credits and messages in modules)
- More graphics while playing (instead of apple style timing bar doing something more like fast tracker/milky player style. Maybe some loading/starting nice logo/image?

- supporting folders and subfolders (I hate that name listed browser with everything thrown into one spot) + delete module from ipad, not from playlist function.
- If someone can (I wish to have beta test version) to try some problematic modules, such as:

I'd love to help test Modizer, I have an iPhone 4 and a friend with a 3GS, both jailbroken :)

hi there,

I'm back from holidays so I'll be able to be build another beta (should be the last one before submitting to appstore). For the one who want to help with beta testing, can you send me your iphone UID at
ymagnien at gmail dot com
UID is required so install a beta version.
You can get it in itunes by clicking on your serial number no the device summary tab (the first one with the firmware version, device model, ...).
It's a long hexadecimal string. Tips : after having clicked on your serial number to let the UID appear, you can copy it using itunes menu (edition / copy).

Hi there,
I've uploaded a second beta on my website : http://yoyofr92.free.fr/modizer
Please note that only people who have sent me their UID can install it.
If you didnt participate to the first beta test you'll have to download also the mobileprovision file and install it (just drag'n'drop it in iTunes)

- first launch is slow because database is created from a rar archive
- display fx can be slow on devices < 3GS
- uae playback is slower than modplug since it requires amiga emulation
- background playback & remote control is supported on iOS >= 4.0
- iTunes documents is supported : you can drag'n'drop files using itunes, but only in the main directory (subdirs are not supported by iTunes)
- New fx/features : beats detection(alpha stage)
- tons of small changes/bug fixes ;-)

Please sens me an email with your feedback :)

I returned my iPhone 4 as it was giving me hell with the signal issues and proximity sensor. And then the iPhone 3G I had spare died. I feel like such a loser - sorry for wasting your time, yohann. :( I may move contracts and get an iPhone 3GS in a couple of weeks - I really wish I could try out Modizer! :( Hope it's not too much paint to add another ID if I manage to get a different iPhone.

when will it be available in itunes app store?

I hope very soon... If not major bug are detected in the current beta I will submit the app to apple in a few days.

Since it will be my first app I don't know how many days it takes for Apple to validate/reject it...
added on the 2010-08-17 14:28:13 by yoyofr yoyofr
~7 days recently, assuming they don't reject it :)
added on the 2010-08-17 15:50:23 by psonice psonice
arf, 1 week! I hope not to be rejected... ;-)

I just fixed an issue with PTM files. Libmodplug seems to be bugged, the sample ofs is not correctly initialized when in the PTM loader.
I'll check to ensure the replay is acceptable...
BTW, which tracker should I use to compare with ? Is OpenMPT accurate for PTM files ?

One thing to check for: do a build, and check the build output for any warnings. If you have some, check that they're not being caused by use of private APIs. I got rejected for this once - I didn't even notice that it was a private API :(

thanks for the tip!

btw, I just found some docs on Lone Ranger's Poly Tracker : is that true
that it never stepped outside Acme ? no screenshot, no 'beta' version ?
