KTX is format of procedural texture generation. It is more better to save algorithm of texture creation in demo.exe than saving rar or zip-compressed textures.
Huh? That makes no sense. JPEG is already compressed very well, so if you put that in a RAR-file, that is surely the best it can get?

Did you open slideshow about PTG?

i dont get it. artists make textures, not machines?????? what is this procedural texture devilry??!?!?
Procedural texture generation is creation textures in runtime (while loading demo) using combination of standard algorithms.

this thread is so dumb. why reverse engineer a demotool? the authors are available and (as far as i know) they are more than willing to share their knowledge.
...or not. werkkzeug3 TE seems to be a licenseable software.

i didn't read all the thread that carefully, but anyway i still don't get it. why is this guy hacking into w3? to learn? then why do you share? (we all know what "procedural" means in this thread). i don't like hackers/crackers/whatever. go make a demo instead, man, if you can.

Is that an official statement or a sad acceptance of the truth?

xtr1m: official. we stopped licensing wz3te one and a half years ago, and .theprodukkt GmbH is in the process of being liquidated.

Why on earth would one want do do that? Isn't it easier just to paint the textures in Gimp or Paint Shop Pro?

I can't see the problem. I mean, JPEGs compress very well.

Yes, but they "smudge" images. JPEGs are what we computer experts call "lossy compression. (I've been using computers since I was three years old!) The smudging is necessary to compress the file.

A better solution is to save the image as an 8-bit GIF file, then compress it using ZIP. This will give almost the same file size, but with improved image clarity and increased sharpness. No smudging!
