Moleman 2 - The Art of the Algorithms [demoscene documentary]

category: general [glöplog]
Now that's an epic opening 3 minutes. How many years of demo making do we need for a full hour of that? :) So many memories compressed into it. Looking forward to watching the rest now.

I was there, didn't understand what they said... And yet it was awesome. Can't wait for the subtitles.

serves well as a teaser for those of us who weren't there, here's to hoping the full feature will be screened at Revision or perhaps another party :)

Looks legendary. At least one of the violently indie theaters around here shall be persuaded to show it.

I just sent out an extensive mail to people who asked me to contact them about screenings, but I'll post some of it here as well:

A couple of quick facts about the film: (basically a FAQ)
- The movie is currently 90 minutes long, although after some more additional editing this might change, though probably not significantly.
- The spoken languages are currently Hungarian and English. The voice-over will be re-recorded in English, the Hungarian parts will be subtitled in English. This will happen by January.
- Consequently, if you want to have a native language subtitle for your screening, a full set of English subtitles to translate will be available before January as well. We'd also appreciate if you send the translation back to us so we can share it as well.
- The movie shall be distributed under a Creative Commons license (not sure which) so distribution will be encouraged.
- The movie is fully shot and edited in digital, and will be distributed as a 1080p video file.
- Due to budgetary reasons there is no physical version planned (i.e. actual film copy or DVD), although of course if you have contacts for producing such, suggestions and possibilities are welcome.

Also, the poster above me (Lameron) is the director/producer/editor of the movie, so any questions could and should be pointed at him as well.

I'm organizing the screening in Berlin. I guess it should be possible to get 50-100 people there (a lot my friends frequently ask about upcoming demoscene screenings).

I want to rent a proper movie-theater. There a about 20 to chose from, but I still have to ask for prices.

Should we align the dates for the screening? 21st of January sounds like a good candidate.

rez: Haven't talked to dfox about it yet; prolly a good idea to show it as a seminar, not so sure about hogging the bigscreen (although it would certainly deserve it).

Aligning the dates sounds like a good idea.

21st of january seems doable here (Paris).

Gargaj: what do you think?

@gargaj: I hope they will show it on the big screen!

the seminar room was really nice but no big enough, and people MUST KNOW.

Screenings are slowly lining up, with upcoming announcements from The Gathering, Revision, Blip Australia, etc.

If you're interested in bringing it to your country / city, let me and Lameron know!
