Deltafire: Our tech team is working on a patch/update for the demo to fix some bugs. We hope this will resolve some of the crashing issues people have encountered. We will announce the update on our site as soon as it is live.
Deltafire: try the launcher ;)

The Windows XP Update has gone live. It should also fix additional bugs we could track down and squash.

We hope you enjoy the demo! Thanks for all the support!
Thanks for the patch, now it works on my PC, too.

But even more important: it doesn't work on my C64 yet ;-)

Unfortunatly I cannot support the project. I am no credit card owner.

Same here. I've heard rumors that they'll add a payment option for non-credit-card-owners once they've reached the threshold (like the Double Fine guys did) - but they need to reach that threshold first. Maybe I'll just ask a friend to pledge for me.

Actually I am surprised, because they use Amazon for the payment. And Amazon has access to my bank account. But for some reason in this case I cannot select something else than credit card.

Salinga / Kabuto: if you know someone with an Amazon + Credit card account, you can give them your Kickstarter login and ask them to do the payment for you.

In the end it's your Kickstarter account information (email, name, etc) that will be used for the rewards, not Amazon's.

Salinga: because the way Kickstarter works, they do not charge you unless the project is successfully funded. Therefore Amazon places a reserve on your card when you back it, and only withdraw the money when it fully funded. Hence, a credit card is needed.

Well, it often happens that I order something at Amazon, but they book it off my account when they actually dispatch the item (which can happen weeks later). Amazon didnt have any problems with that for years now.

I thought the trust relationship between me and Amazon would work with Kickstarter too.

Salinga: the most likely reason is that Amazon is Amazon and Kickstarter is Kickstarter. Kickstarter only uses Amazon's order processing and payment-features, so they're a 3rd party like anyone else. It stands to reason that f.ex. PayPal has a different relationship with you than someone who uses PayPal to process orders.

Amazon is not only Amazon. All participants of the Amazon market are using the Amazon relationship it has to its customers regarding direct money transfers initiated by Amazon. The thought is not far fetched that Kickstarter uses this too, since countless other businesses rely on it successfully and trust Amazon with it.

Well, in the end its for the loss of the Kickstarter projects. They could profit a lot if they would not exclude persons without access to a credit card.

If someone wants my money: Make it as easy as possible for me to give it to you. ;o)

I'll come to your house and collect the money if you want.

Salinga has a point there. Kickstarter scares off many many people with that "we only accept credit cards" behaviour. I read that Kickstarter is coming to Europe in Autumn, so there's a chance that projects can be carried out via Paypal and the like.

Pista: same here until I installed their patch (which claims to be for Win XP users having issues but it actually worked for me as well although I don't have WinXP)
