Same here: no time for this really but I'd love to see 256b.com ( or similar ) back, and in the hands of someone who cares and knows what $he is doing.

what exactly would be needed apart from hosting?

The last incarnation of 256b.com didn't use anything special on the technical side: PHP 4, mySQL, .htaccess with Redirect to get clean URLs, and the prods were hosted on the same server ( uploaded by a PHP script, which caused some issues each time my host changed the security/account settings #@! ).

Two things sucked about the site though:

* it was not using Scene ID -> any clown could post random shit, and they did :\
* there was near zero "Admin" page: PHPMySQL and the FTP were the admin.

I need to check how the Prod submission worked. There was a Submit form but I'm pretty sure I disabled it because some funny people submitted random shit. That form was most likely Admin-only.

OTOH, as we said in the several 256b.com revival discussions. There is no need for something grandiose. All that matters is the prods really. A simple front end to view and search 256b-ish prods ( without rating or comments ) would be do fine. FWIW comments could probably live in one of these Disquss thingy.

Another option for the Submit: Make the public Submit send a mail to the admin with all the infos and the archive of the prod for review and actual Submit on the site. Sub-optimal but that could do the job.
