Quote:
We regret to inform you that the Scene.org Awards project is discontinued and won't be organized any further. The past ten years has been amazing time for the demoscene and we sincerely hope that the Scene.org Awards have done its part in recognizing and honoring the talent we have in the community. A big thank you to everyone who's been part of this - keep on demoing!

The Scene.org Awards website will stay online and serve as an archive of the best demo releases from 2002-2011.

On a more personal note I'd like to thank everyone who's been involved organizing the Awards during the years - BP, TG, Asm and Revision org, all the jury members, everyone in Scene.org Awards org: Netpoet, Steeler, Leia, Gloom, Knos, ps, Dixan, Pan, Blueberry, D'arcy, Visualice, Ryg, kb, Solenoid, Numtek, Micksam, Ziphoid, Truck.... All the amazing guys and gals who made the opening demos and background visuals: Visualice+Virgill, Nytrik+LB, Moppi Productions, Aenima, Kewlers, Keyboarders, 1/2 bit Cheese, Ript + Disaster Area, Bob, Still.. and probably tons of people I should've mentioned but forgot from the list - sorry!

Now off to something different...

I had heard rumours scene.org awards would not happen this year but I didn't know they planed on ending it all. This is really sad and a major blow to the scene I think. At least for me, the scene.org awards has been one of the pillars of the demoscene and something I have looked forward to each year with great anticipation. It also helped groups feel ok with releasing more serious releases at smaller parties as it still had a chance of getting the publicity it deserved if it was good enough to be nominated for the scene.org awards.

Hopefully, some one will take up the torch and organize something similar in the future.

Thank you for all the great memories, your hard work and dedication!

Wow :(

I've had the opportunity thanks to Willbe to be called to do my scene duty and I've done it with great pleasure during two years. It's sad to see it ends at some points but you know what they: all good things must come to an end.

It's sad, yes. But then again, if the team is not satisfied with the work they're doing and the critics are getting harsher every year, it's maybe the best choice for them.

If I've learned one thing about the demoscene it's that nothing really ends and the scene surely isn't dying because of it. Somebody somewhere will do something to keep it alive - always.

this is really sad. the scene.org awards have been a great motivation over the years for me and many others, and an honour to even be nominated for let alone win.

however i can totally understand why it's coming to a close.

(the awards could only ever be as good as the demos available to be nominated)

sorry to see it go - big ups to the people who organized it, it's been a huge phenomenon over the last decade.

Thanks for all your hard work guys, and for being such good sports about the haters, who can of course smoke a giant finnish cock. I always understood the motivation behind the awards, and I do consider it one of the good outreach efforts. Fun fact: I've used it myself as a bit of a curriculum. Since I am the worst ever at being up to date about cool new stuff, I could always check out the scene.org awards and see what I should at least have heard of to hide the fact that I am a total lamer even after all these years :)

With that in place - we are pleased to announce that the DUB AWARDS will hit you, with the speed, ferocity and sloppiness of me hitting someones mother.

Aww, shame though not a real surprisr, unfortunately. Happy to have been a small part of it!

Truth is out now, it's sad but it was also somehow foreseeable :/
It was an honor to me to be part of the award staff team since last year.
If there will be another kind of award, count me in to help :)

This is really sad news. I felt the awards was one of the things bringing the scene together and a great way to celebrate the demoscene-achievements of the past year as a whole. Thanks a lot to the guys involved, and here's to hoping that something similar will surface soon!

Aye. <3 to those key people in and around the awards. i had fun being in the jury in the past few years. Sadly, getting something similar wont be that easy in credibility/authority (jury/status and all that). but let's see what happens.
Sad to see this happening, but on the other hand i understand.
