@party news thread

category: parties [glöplog]
We may have one or two additions, but here is the @party 2013 schedule:
http://atparty-demoscene.net/schedule/
Just throwing a suggestion here...

Possible to have the schedule show two sets of times? Your local time and UTC+0?

Would make things easier for us europeans :)

Suggestion and widget are awesome, thanks.

Can do, although we'll have to figure out layout because our schedule is autofed to the website from Partymeister.

We can also do something here when we post the livestream link and remind folks of the IRC (here, FB, Twitter, demoparty.net, IRC, etc)

Hi folks, 5 DAYS LEFT TO SEND REMOTE ENTRIES TO @PARTY OR REGISTER TO ATTEND.

Email your last minute frantic queries to questions @ atparty-demoscene dot net or remote @ atparty-demoscene dot net, or ping Metoikos by Twitter, FB, IRC, cellphone, or carrier pigeon.

Sadly, Metoikos has no ham license or fillings capable of radio reception, so that contact method is not available.

YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

Well, that snuck up fast ... and I'd swear the compo pages changed since I last looked (which was quite a while ago, I did get busy ...). My video card (since revived) also dropped out in the middle so I couldn't use my preferred development box for half a month :(

Hopefully I'll be able to pull my yet-again crappy entry together before the remote deadline.

Not that I'm intentionally trying to crap up the compo, of course.
We welcome your entry! Doesn't have to be cutting edge technology to be a crowd pleaser.

YAY! Remote entry deadline is midnight EDT JUNE 10! Thats Monday!

An addition to the @party schedule! Pete Dilworth talking about 3Doodler, the first 3D printing pen! http://atparty-demoscene.net/schedule/
We are fortunate to have obtained, in addition to the trophies and other prizes we have for winners of the compos, two special books.

Well, sorry, one less entry I guess. Video card tanked again. It was going to be a browser entry, so the video card doesn't matter for development, but the lack of it makes that machine inaccessible. Say what you want about backups and stuff, that release was in fact in a private repository I can get at from elsewhere, but some of my tooling I wrote (that stupidly, okay, now you get to laugh) isn't. I know I've got something like 24+ hours, but I'd like to not show up to work a zombie in front of a client and what I was doing wasn't that spectacular anyway. So something about procrastination, terrible planning, and other stuff I managed to screw up. Maybe I'll post a picture to the "things people are developing that are way more awesome than mine" thread, aka 'Random "work in progress" shots' if I don't intend to finish it (since doesn't revealing things there negate possibility of entry to some compos?). I'm bummed, but it's my own fault.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Hope the party goes well and you get a bunch of entries anyway :) If I'm at the right place when stuff starts to go down, I'll tune in (I assume SceneSat will cover it).
AMcBain: thank you for thinking of us. There are more parties. You could send the finished entry to DemoDays in August, which takes remote entries . . . or if you feel like waiting, Récursion (in November) in Montréal.

SceneSat is covering it, we will have video and radio and IRC and all that jazz. Join us via the intarrrwebs.

Sometime soon, URLS! And stuff.
ack that's awful sorry AMcBain!!

Thanks blackpawn, but I'll get it resolved soon enough. I had repasted (thermal) the card, so I was surprised it worked, and I got two weeks out of it. Thankfully what died wasn't a new one.

@atpartyadmin (at at; hehe)
Thanks for the pointers on parties! it would be silly to give up on it, especially since that would leave a release # gap ;), so I think it will surface.

Also, yup :) Half the fun being in the IRC channel doing the secondary running commentary. Plus I can bombard people with shameless promotion of my almost, kinda, not yet complete SceneSat web player interface. Just kidding. (Wait, does this count? Dang. Maybe if I act shameful about it ... ?)
repasted it after it "died" the first time*
So we will be re-encoding and reposting this video (because it figures that the most crucial video eats itself) if we can get better results, but for the meatime, we post it here because it is just that awesome.

An @party 2012 seminar: More Fun With Symmetry, a talk by Bathsheba Grossman!

How to make imagery for your 4Ks (and such) that looks awesome without taking up so much memory.

The camera angle improves partway through.
Any slides available for that?

Schedule page is updated to display local times for viewers.
http://atparty-demoscene.net/schedule/
And I know it works, because my laptop is still set to CET since Revision.

We have 77 folks attending.

Also, the subwoofers Dr Claw built for the party work rather well.
Video streaming URL to come soon. Audio streaming via scenesat.

You can join us during the party in the #@party channel on IRCnet.
is not the stream supposed to start now :( ?
