category: music [glöplog]

BB Image
Sky Barstow, Captain Credible, Center of the Universe and (451) have joined forces in the invention of a completely new 100% eco-friendly genre: BALKAN BIT!
Balkan Bit is the result of a full on frontal collision between folk-tones from the Balkans and nostalgic video game music. The result is hysterical end ecstatic while at the same time feeling completely natural. The release contains traditional balkan songs remade alongside original compositions inspired by eastern european music, archaic entertainment consoles and pre-iPhone computer culture.

The release is available on 1.44 MB floppy, with digital download included.

What is on the Disk? Somehow i doubt you'll squeek the mp3s on there.
Mods? Sids? Comes with a cool custom player to be a true musicdisk?

Sounds interesting, and the animated gif is really cool.
I had a great laugh reading these lines:

This release also marks a milestone in mankind's achievements within “Hi-def lossless music compression and enhancement technology”. Through exaggerated googling and scientific experiments the team have managed to push compression to its practical limits. Where a standard mp3 format album would take over 60MB, the team have managed to get the size down to 1.44MB, while at the same time ENHANCING the audio quality.

The first Track is kinda cool, but on the whole it's really not my style. But nice concept anyways.

Unfortunately we didn't have the expertise to make it a proper musicdisk, which would be inpossible since it's mostly fakebit that wouldn't fit - as you pointed out - so it's basically LO-FI AMRs that sound pretty hash. Anyway, if you don't like the idea of that or can't be bothered with buying it it's AVAILABLE ON SPOTIFY!

...BUT the floppy contains a SID file of the tune Laika, that's exclusive to the floppy (if you weren't too look in HVSC that is ; )
