+1 for foobar

slightly offtopic, deciding on a music player is dependant on what and how much you want to do. If just throwing up a playlist and listening to a few albums is all you want i imagine any of the myriad of players such as AIMP et al are all great apps.

If you want to manage a rather large library of music as well (I have 2+ TB) then that's another matter completely. I find iTunes still a bit bloated, I use it only ocasionaly to purchase music. But I find foobars efficency here to be fast and with many great library managing features, you can also configure it your own particular needs with some work.

At the end of the day, if you enjoy your music collection with whatever player, that's all that matters :)

In case someone's really looking for a decent music player on Linux, take a loot at cmus: http://cmus.sourceforge.net/

(But loose your mouse.)

Should we have a milkdrop preset thread then?

Gargaj - nice, but I think my VBR's hurt it...

(Did anyone ever get line-in working with Cthugha then?)

i like to have my whole collection in my playlist at all times so i can shuffle through it.
the times where it stedily grew by the numbers is long gone but its a careful selection of aprox. 43k tunes.

here's my multi-panel foobar layout at the moment, i have gone through numerous alterations and am constantly changing it... but its light, manages my large library very very well and has everything i want in it.

I use a tweaked winamp v2.95 and v5.6 - milkdrop so deserves an upgrade for modern systems. I also use xmplay and deliplayer for everything .mod based and have used this set-up for years and years and years.

In contrast I uninstalled foobar after 10 minutes cos I found it really annoying :P

keito: is there a particular reason you need two spectrum analyzers?

Gargaj, no particular reason, i'm constantly tweaking and changing the config though, so it's not always there.
