Yes it is. If people transgress you, pay back imediatly. The reason it is important to incorporate this in your thinking, is that tyrants in true islam never get a chance to rise. They will be beaten down before they have a chance.

Dont confuse this with osama and the likes, because they are killing everybody but those responsible, and that is NOT an islamic thing and illegal.

It says. He who kills another, be it not in the cause of justice (shaira, not oppinion), it is as if he killed the whole people.

Try an figure out what kind of punishment is comming in osama's direction.

Now you might say, that hollowman isnt a tyrant..No he is not, im sure he is a very nice guy. But I have to incorporate this way of thinking into my life, should it ever be needed on a larger scale. Besides, forgiveness is more important. Yes i demand an apology, yes i would have smacked him in the face (not out of anger mind you), but he appologized, so i am truely sorry that i had to threaten him to make him take his words back.

usually it's not intended to stop tyrants from gaining power, once an ego has been violated, the urge of fighting back in whatever way is pretty much normal.

Being nice when people hurt you is a Christian thing, actually.

s_tec, don't forget that the Golden Rule is featured in many religions, and it basically forbids not being nice to people. Unfortunately Islam is not one of these religions (as far as I know of)

iblis: I'm jewish. I have nothing to do with the state of israel (I'm a norwegian expat stuck in f***** Denmark). Yet, when I say I'm jewish (by culture, not by belief. I'm a dedicated Turbo-Zen Buddhist) most muslims start hating me and probably want to blow up the bus I'm riding every day. I have never agressed against islam.

You probably don't approve of this since the Quaran more or less explicitly says that other religions should be respected (as they were back in the old days. Islam didn't force itself upon non-muslims, at least not religiously).

What you belive is a matter between you and God. He has commanded muslims to be good to other belivers. You cannot force belive on anyone, but you can make a good example. By following it to point, and thus inviting them by example into the core of Islam :)

I have freinds from all relegions, i hate that they want to worhip what i view as idols, such as the prophets (incl, a lot of muslims). But at the end of the day that is between God and them, and it doesnt make them bad people. God has given us no authority to judge in these matters.

The palestine conflict is completely twisted. a mish mash of zealot relegious schoolars, politics, ethnic clinsing and all kinds of ill shit....on both sides. This is not a war of evil vs. good, but a war of evil, vs evil and caught in the middle is poor innocent people.

I saw many religions, and almost all of them had violent side-effects. Like in this thread. Thinking logically, I decided that all these religions are bad for me, and I got over them.

The only true "god" and "religion" is nature, and its infinite power over all living things. You cannot deny it or defy it, because it surrounds you and includes you. You, me, everyone and everything is nature. Everything is God. And we all have the power to make it good or bad for everyone. The choice is up to you.

And that would be...your oppinion mate :)

The thing is, it just saddens me to see my companions becoming violent over who believes in the best (man made) religion. And that was the reason for my post.

Mot noone became aggressive over the issue of relegion. I felt aggressed towards verbally, and reacted on it, as is my duty. As far as im concerned noone got hurt, so what is the problem?

As for the manmade part. You obviously know little to nothing about relegion, if you judge it merely by its followers-

And the participants were all humans (no divine entity intervened). And it is not a problem. It just saddens me to experience that.

As for the manmade part, I am sorry to inform you that this too is my opinion. And I fail to see any way that any of us two is going to convice the other about the opposite.

Mot, im not oppinionating against brazzilian soap operas mate. but you are against relegion, without proper knowledge. It's not a critique, but rather an invitation, to look at the different ones before you pass judgement.
