Deadline Demoparty - 3rd-5th of October - Berlin, Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
Came home at around 23:45 yesterday. This party was really awesome. I'm so glad I finally decided to go after some weeks of weighing up.

The organisation was really good, especially for a first edition. Talked to a lot of nice people and had a great time at pixturs Tooll-event. This software is awesome! You have to check it out. Thanks again to the Tooll-team for providing a pc for me. It was really interesting to create my first ever realtime-entry (which even won the fast-compo, although undeserved).

Thanks again to all the organizers for making this happen. Hopefully there will be a deadline 2015.

there was some talking somewhere that Pixtur's presentation/event might be recorded for the rest of the us (that went to the hungarian party).

so, was it recorded "for the future generations" or is it lost forever?

also, sorry if it's already posted somewhere and I've missed it.

@bonefish: I think I saw a camera recording the presentation.

@gaspode: Thanks for your kind words. I'm really glad you came. Can't wait to see what feedback and requests you'll come up with.
@bonefish: I also saw a camera recording something. I have not seen the footage yet though. There were some issues with the sound quality of the microphone, lots of echos and stuff. If quality turns out to be decent, I will upload to youtube and post the url here.

It was a very enjoyable first Deadline party and my first time in Berlin in nearly 20 years. The organizers are a friendly bunch of sceners who worked very hard to keep things running smoothly. Moqui's opening speech was clearly improvised, but I don't think anyone took it too seriously :P

The competitions were mostly great, with a fantastic turnout of releases across all categories. A sign of support for the first Deadline party. The only criticism I have here is for the streaming music competition. The PA "totally" butchered the last compo entry (the metal tune with vocals) The sound was so bad and that people sitting in the front row left and walked away, be it either because they didn't want their ears bleed to death or simply because they were unable to enjoy it. Occasional poor sound happens at every party / disco / whatever. But this has to be among the worst sound I have heard in a long time. Please do fix this for future parties, the musicians put a lot of effort into their works and should be presented at least decently. To be fair, after the music competitions were over and for the rest of the night - the sound was MUCH better! :)

+ I had some very nice conversations with Havoc and Draugven at the bonfire (and possibly learned a couple new things about organizing).

+ Computadora's impromptu DnB session during saturday night was nothing short of amazing.

+ Thank you SVOlli for introducing the Atari VCS tracker to me, that's a funny little piece of software that I need to explore more. Hopefully there's room to make it even more awesome yet and get all the bugs fixed.

+ One of my personal highlights was Oni sharing the history of Poo-Brain (so far..) with a bunch of eagerly listening sceners. Once you know a bit more about them, it is far easier to appreciate their work. Rumours have it that they're on to something really big for next year, so keep your eyes open! (*cough* Revision maybe? *cough*)

+ So many other cool people I met at Deadline, thanks for a great weekend!

- Sad that the capture device I fast-mailed to you ended up at some other bloke's apartment, please can you send it back to me when you get a chance? :)

@bonefish: I'm sorry about this. But the beta-list is LOONG. There is no way we can provide early access to the whole group, so we have to roll out partially. At the workshop we noticed about 10-20 things we need to change before tooll is at least a little bit usable without a personal introduction. So, we working on it...

@sunspire i don't think it was the PA's fault with this "rock" track. It didn't even hiccup on the oversteered drums acid track from Dalezy so i'm willing to bet it was partly fault of the bad mastering this track has received.

Soo... we finally managed to kinda recover from the party - now it's time for some words:

It was a total blast! Thanks for all your positive comments, I'm really glad you liked it. We had much fun organizing it too! Also thanks for the criticism - we will try and improve on all those points next time (and some more improvements which are already planned ;)

First of all a BIG THANKS to all the visitors who came to the first edition of Deadline - on relatively short notice and without really knowing what to expect.
We hoped that 100 people will show up and we ended with >150 people on location! WOW!

Then I want to thank everybody who brought a release to support the party! We had a lot of awesome releases to show on the bigscreen. <3
I hope you liked the prizes and specialities from Berlin. Btw to everybody who won sth. but missed the prizegiving ceremony: Contact me - i have your prizes here and would love to bring them to UC or Revision.

And last but not least THANKS to all the organizers who made the party happen:
2b, Ace, Alpha C, Arab, Atze, Draugven, Hunta, Hypo, Insane, Krill, Luisa, Mbb, Metheara, Mog, Moqui, Oni, Ramses, Sheijk, Titus, v3nom and totally-not-orga kb :)
Give them a hug at the next party! (hope i did not forgot anybody)

Of course also thanks to all our sponsors and supporters. We <3 you!

Soo... good bye and thanks for all the fish! See you next year!
And please keep the photos and comments coming. :)
