Restricted to 15 samples I presume? :D

Awesome I'm in on this!

If it's restriced to 15 samples, it should also be restricted to the original player effects in Karsten's UST, which translate to 0xx, 1xx and 2xx in ProTracker. It's a big mess.
Sounds fun, i'm most probably in too.

ham, saga: using only the existing samples will (in all cases iirc?) anyway mean max. 15 samples so it's not a big deal. IMHO it would be best to stay clear of UST for the convenience (that arp thing...)

But you could use Protracker' sample editor to copy, paste & edit those samples. So, eventually, you could do a new 31 samples module using Obarski sample material.

Except if rules don't allow such heresy, of course. :D

Sure, i just kind of read the whole thing that the samples must stay as they are in the original song :)

Yeah, that would be useful to clarify.
the samples are already in the original mods, the samples should stay as they are in the karsten obarski mod of your choice, if you think this is a limitation you don't want, i am open for discussion :)

otherwise the only important thing is, that it can be played on protracker on amigaaaaaaaaaaa :D

Are loop points fair game?

I'd never buy those Commodore computers, the a-key seems to be stuck on most of them.

Ok, if I understand well we can only use 1xy, 2xy and 15 samples.
No use of Cxy, Axy (protracker effects) ?? That's it?

or can we ? :)

Then it would be just another Protracker compo, wouldn't it? And since K.O. is being evoked for this, I'm guessing "no". :)

Also would be nice if we could use samples from different songs of K. Obarski but it looks like I'm rewritting the whole rulez :p

Ok3anos: 1xy was arpeggio (so 0xy in ProTracker-speak) and 2xy was a combination of portamento up (1xx) and portamento down (2xx). So one effect more. ;)
But yes, also this should be clarified. The rules are still very vague.
ok, lets see:
- use samples of one original song only (like karsten obarski)
- use any protracker effects (it still should be fun to make those, right? ;)

This sounds fun this way, I'm in. :)

For anyone not on Amiga[aaaaaa], Milky loads stk modules just fine but they have to be renamed *.mod to appear in the fileselector.

I may be the last person in the universe to figure this out, in which case nevermind.

jmph: Keep in mind that MilkyTracker doesn't even try to convert the pattern effects, so for loading samples or extracting melodies it's okay, but for actually playing, there will be some significantly broken things.
i'd prefer some 'Grüner Veltliner', but i think i'm in. :)

@Saga: what's a decent player for STK on PC? I have Vox (OSX) and Deadbeef (Linux) which both use BASS but I don't know how well they handle these early formats.
added on the 2015-01-30 01:18:39 by jmph jmph
If they use a recent enough (2013 or later) version of BASS, then they will be mostly fine. I rewrote all the STK stuff in OpenMPT at the same time as Ian implemented it in BASS (see linked thread above), so any recent OpenMPT or libopenmpt version will sound good as well. Something like the old DeliPlayer might work too, although I don't know how it works internally, and knowing which kind of heuristics it uses to differentiate between the various SoundTracker versions is crucial for judging the quality.
Any PT effects huh? Well, if i'll do a tune i'll still use only 0XX, 1XX and 2XX for the "authentic feel" :)
