EGA Scene GFX

category: gfx [glöplog]
Nice site, but I am not searching for some old games.
I am searching for a "toolbox" for creating an slideshow with some cool effects, music and smooooooth scrolling.

Not 'scene' but since you also have game artwork there, Alexei Silaev had some very nice hi-res EGA art in his early '90s games:

nice stuff indeed :)
does anyone have a link for the old "1980''s compuserve gif archives" ? Thx!

Code it yourself. If you're thinking of doing releasing a slideshow with old pictures not made by you I'll give some advice: don't

probably you are right...but do you think that images created '88 and before really some lawyers ? A slideshow might nearly be the same if I put them on "flickr", what I did recently.
I don't think that there will be any trouble at all. It would be very hard to get the permission of the author because you will not find him after all the years.
The Images were all released on shareware-Cd's. (cdtextfiles)
But what's the point of this slideshow? It would be a really lame release, considering that the graphics are already available and you wouldn't contribute to it in anyway yourself.

The problem is, I have no clue about programming, I know nothing, so there it is very ambitios for me to do so, especially if I would like to add some sort of music and a scroller. The "slides" should be EGA-Hires and SMOOTH like panning in the ega-textmode-demo.

http://cd.textfiles.com/simtelctc/disk1/EGA/

All I have now is: an idea of a hires ega-slideshow with music and scrollers or a starfield.

What I have on dokumentations:
- TurboPascal7 Compendium
- Assembler Programming (Bertham Wohak) 8086...80286
- The Link to some EGA-Refernce http://www.pcjs.org/pubs/pc/magazines/
- And an Advice from Trixter to go for this book http://www.amazon.com/Programmers-Guide-Super-Cards-Edition/dp/0201624907

I think doing an EGA-slideshow is a very ambitios target for ME.
If you actually had some EGA graphics that YOU made, I would code the slideshow for you.

afaik no one has released an ega-slideshow or an ega hires-demo(effects) in hires (640x350@16)

that would be very nice of you, but I do not any type of images yet, I only collected some from old shareware-cd's and converted some already low-color via-stuff with 16 colors to ega.

currently I am doing some logos for myself.

It is my goal to learn some assembler so I could do some things by myself,
but I would really appreciate if some gives my advice I do it the wrong way.

I think I will start to learn the basics and asking for help/advice later.

Thx!

That's a good idea. A slideshow where you haven't really done anything yourself is a bad idea :)
