I think prods should only be allowed if they are demonstrated to work on real hardware.
You can't trust emulators. Most of them aren't very accurate, and I've already seen too many demos that work on emulators, but not on real hardware.
Besides, real hardware often allows you to do cool new things that emulator writers never even thought about yet.

without real hardware developing demos doesn't makes sence?

Yes they do. This one supports the Cromemco Dazzler for video among other things. For sound umm.. just fire up your handy steam powered A.M. radio.

can't imagine any demo on Altair8800.

Isn't that the point? I can't imagine a demo on the javaring but sometimes you just gotta believe. the infinite is possible. The only limit is yourself.

If they don't have paper tape or a disk drive, we'll have to manually toggle switch it in. Emulator use is a last resort. hopefully a video of the entry can be submitted
textmode for CP/M?
huh

The full schedule is now on the website. (http://synchrony.untergrund.net/timetable/

Also, I seriously just got a hotel in NYC for 75$ a night. There are very few tourists that time of year. Airfares are between 480 and 550 euro.
some 256b ready! =)

Code:wishfully paging Digimind as well . . . met him this weekend, told him about the party. His nano prod was SICK.

Was not paged myself :)

Do not think it is wise to attempt to coin a 256b sizeprod, a "nano" prod.
Certainly Function's rules differ from your new demoparty's by disallowing "codegolf" (scrape Google for size of source code vs. size of binary code) by allowing only real (non-interpretated or any shortcut-exploiting) code : especially if you encourage people to use compression for 256b mentionning "JsExe or pnginator".
Also you mention "This means that, among others, msvcr70.dll, msvcr71.dll and msvcr80.dll will not be available. " but I have yet to see a 256b use it (probably a residue from copy/pasted rules of other demoparty sites you allude to).

How would you call a 128b then, a "pico" prod ? and a 64b ? and a 32b ? Better to stick to standard paradigm as other demoparties do.

It is a pleasure to see Luis finally appreciating sizeprods as real productions and not only Amiga prods.

Would be nice to meet Perlin, but alas financial ressources are low at the moment.
If someone made a demo for the Altair 8800, I would be sooooo happy.

Out of interest, if we submit an oldskool entry do we have to supply an NTSC version for particular systems or are you showing on emulators?

no answers, stuck with Santa Claus?

Synchrony is now accepting compo entries!

Use http://synchrony.nyc/party/ to upload your prod or email it to us at synchrony@nickm.com

  • The deadline for remote entries is January 8th, 2016 5:00pm EST
  • The deadline for onsite entries is January 9th, 2016 6:00pm EST
  • The deadline for voting is January 10, 2016 10:00am EST (onsite people only with votekey)

re: NTSC

A video recording of your prod running on actual hardware is preferred. Email us the details and we can see if we can have the actual hardware present. Emulator use will be a last resort.
█▄ █▄█ █ ▄█▀, maybe you know about Altair: does one suppotrt video Cromemco Dazzler?
added on the 2016-01-02 19:05:16 by g0blinish g0blinish
g0blinish - The altair 32 emulator supports the cromemco dazzler. I have not seen an S100 card in real life. It is highly doubtful there will be one at the party. Matrox also made an S100 Bus video card. Have you tried mapping the leds on the front panel to a DAC and output that to an oscilloscope? I wonder how many dots you can get smoothly animating. if you connect an altair to a modern oscilloscope is it still considered oldskool? #raptorthoughts
█▄ █▄█ █ ▄█▀ , I know what altair32 support dazzler.
I made plasma effect, but sometimes one runns smoothly, sometimes slowly. Description differs from emulator(VRAM address etc).

And play with leds? it is not an option.

The compo machine specification is as follows:

Core i7 5820K 3.3ghz
Asus x99 motherboard
16GB DDR4 RAM
500GB SSD
GeForce GTX Titan Black
Windows 8.1 64-bit with the latest DirectX and stable NVidia drivers.

We will also have Linux Debian on hand.
That machine is able to run quite a few iSO demo in parallel
