Amiga MODs to MP3 converting tool?

category: music [glöplog]
FWIW, the second tune is not played correctly by bubsy's clone either and we're currently check why (the replen of that out-of-tune sample exceeds the sample length, so XMPlay and pretty much all other players too will just clamp it to the actual smaple length). People, please always report bugs to software creators instead of bashing that the software doesn't do something right. Ian from un4seen is among the fastest persons to fix playback bugs I've ever seen.
(I have reported the bug, fixed in OpenMPT and bubsy is about to fix ProTracker-Win32 as well.)
If they're classic (and released) they're probably on "Modland Special" (google it and click the link, use the search engine and download ogg or mp3). Generated on the fly for you :)

The second most accurate way is to load it in the correct Protracker in WinUAE (usually 2.3D), and simply record to mp3.

The most accurate way is to do the same an Amiga and use a wave editor of choice to record its output with an RCA to 3.5mm cable, then Save As.

I see your point, but given how many inaccurate mod players there are out there, I'd hardly be doing anything else than report playback errors. :) Joking aside, I just haven't taken XMPlay's MOD support seriously due to the lack of an Amiga interpolation option. FWIW I've reported bugs to Ian about other formats, as he obviously takes them seriously!

Fair enough :)
Regarding that other module you posted, it uses VBlank timing which even ProTracker itself will not play "correctly" by default - unless you set it to use VBlank instead of CIA, of course. XMPlay actually has code to detect VBlank mods, but it has no chance of detecting this specific one both VBlank and CIA interpretations make sense. It is a module that has to be fixed manually, no matter if you use XMPlay, ProTracker or anything else. :)
s/one both/one, as both/
Goddammit, my fingers...
I don't think it's the module that has to be fixed, it's rather that players need the same option that Protracker has. If auto detection doesn't work, it should simply ask the user.

So you want a message box to pop up with every simple MOD you load? :)
Surely there aren't that many ambiguous modules that can't be auto detected? Would be great if it could remember the setting in a cache file or something. But failing all of that, a simple toggle button would work a lot better than nothing.

Well, I don't have any numbers but I can think of quite a few ways a module would look both okay in CIA and VBlank mode. But yes, having an explicit toggle (like in OpenMPT or ProTracker) would be nice, so I'm going to suggest that too on the XMPlay forums.
Fabulous :) Now all it needs is band-limited sample & hold interpolation (MinBLEPS work great) and that non-AGA non-LED low pass filter! Ok, and the LED-filter itself, even though it invariably sounds like garbage.

Yeah, I thought about adding BLEP to (lib)OpenMPT as well, but that will have to wait at least until Outline, gotta finish my music entry now :D
That would be great, good luck!
