Deadline 2016 - 30th Sept to 2nd Oct - Berlin, Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
We're back for the 3rd time to party with you in the pulsating city of Berlin, Germany!
The party will again take place at Orwohaus, with space for up to 200 people.

The guys at Orwohaus are currently transforming the hall to an official Event-Space, so we're planning several improvements regarding the location, which will be announced soon.
Of course we will still have the big outdoor area with bonfire and grill, no changes there :)

We're also planning to have some special events coming up, so stay tuned!
More infos can be found at http://demoparty.berlin

We look forward to partying with you and of course are thrilled to see your entries, regardless of platform!

We updated the competition rules. So what's new and noteworthy?

  • NEW Javascript-Demo compo, go mess with that Browser!
  • NEW SID-Music compo, for the lovers of those sweet 8-bit bleeps and chirps!
  • 4k PC intro compo (instead of 8k, because 4k should be enough for everybody, right?!)
  • And last but not least, the theme for this years photo competition is: "Secret Cult"

The full set of rules can be found on our website.

..and remember: We also allow remote-entries!
As you can see, there's no excuse to not do a release, right?! ;)

First of all, thanks guys for organizing it! I will most likely drop by.

For the 4k vs 8k vs 64k: it will all end-up in one "combined intro/demo" block, so why even pretend ;)

tomkh:
Good to hear your coming! Regarding the compos: Let's see! Rumors say that some people are already preparing stuff. ;)

dalezy:
Well in this compo we're aiming specifically for music made on the SID-Chip / the C64. Maybe next year we'll open it up again.

Some more news!

  • LOCATION : This year the party won’t happen in the hall downstairs, but in the first floor of Orwohaus instead. The means we will have a bit less space, but finally proper toilets, a separate room for events and seminars, no more dust, and a quieter although smaller sleeping area (please check the remarks on the website!). Additionally we’ll have a big bar area and terrace as well!

  • TICKETS & T-SHIRTS : All information on the various Ticket & T-Shirts options can now be found on the website. Be the first one to get your ticket! :)

..and we got the first (remote) entries! Keep 'em coming! \0/

The C65 explained for C64 lovers – Seminar by SvOlli /TRSI ^ XayaX

Let’s take a dive down into home computer history.

In my opinion the era of 6502 compatible based 8-bit computing has two holy grails: one from the beginning of that era, the other one is from the end. The first one is the Apple I, which is expensive, but boring from the coder’s point of view. Much more interesting is the machine that only existed as a few hundred prototypes, the Commodore C65.

I had access to the original system specification of the prototypes lately. So I decided to pick out a few gems and roll them up into a nice little talk that will make most C64 coders drool when thinking of the possibilities: expanded VIC, two SIDs for stereo, faster CPU with a larger instruction set and a DMA controller with blitter-like capabilities are just the core highlights of this beast. So let me introduce you to the machine that would have been a worthy completion of the line of 8-bit home computers.

Cables hands-on: WebGL audio-reactive visuals – Seminar by pandur / holon

Cables is a visual WebGL editor currently in development which makes it possible to create beautiful interactive content for the web via a node based user interface. Within the workshop you will get an early glimpse what’s possible and create an audio-reactive visual which can be experienced in any modern browser.

Cables is being developed by demosceners, but also used to realize commercial projects.

The first serious cables project was luxe by holon, the winning demo of last years deadline demoparty. another demoscene related project is the bigscreen system of evoke.
