I am so going to enjoy the Shader Showdown this time. I don´t participate and also i won´t be partycoding as i used to the last years!

LJ: You have big chances to win this, but don´t underestimate your contenders! Musk will be back this time i guess, he won in 2015 and 2014 already! ;) And Kabuto is also still trying to win this compo! Blueberry is always to be feared! And i wonder who else is up to this challenge this time! :)

I for myself failed miserably in 2015 already, been completely unprepared and the keyboard-layout kept switching on me (i didn´t know about that ALT+Shift-Keycombo (or however i did this by accident all the time!) in Win7 as i only ever have one layout on my private PC!), thus i delivered a black-screen, haha! :D I won´t go through that again, you can be sure of this!

Was that just an excuse to continue the quote nesting?

Our competition rules are online. As in the last years, there are categories for every taste. Music, Graphics, Demo, Animation and all the weird stuff you're used to. Small changes have been made since last year - please check out the New & Noteworthy section for important changes regarding your entries.

Some important changes that affect most competitions are: No GEMA worries anymore (all composers are allowed to participate) and no anonymous competitions this year.

Good news. That makes me thinking, though: Some copyright societies including GEMA automatically own the rights to all works released by the author (while others allow to only register certain pieces and leave others unregistered). So how would this affect spreading the files e.g. via scene.org when they are submitted by a GEMA musician?

Excellent question. Though this is applicable not only to Revision but to all other parties past and future. I actually don't know how this can be handled any other way as it already is. Maybe I will ask netpoet about it. Though I think this matter can/will be ignored because that's what happened in the past 20 years already...

Yeah, I guess GEMA is more interested in live events/broadcasts, and it's typically the labels that would have a problem with that (but then again, labels do not typically own an artists entire catalogue automatically). Still, it seems like a grey area to me.
Photo competition

Retouching and collages are allowed.

I'd like to have more strict rules in the photo competition. Last year there were entries shown that were heavily modified - so much that I wouldn't even call it a photo anymore. Retouching should be limited to color/contrast/brightness corrections and minor retouching.

Examples from last year:

Especially the anonymousity-drop is good...
...we had that in the early 90s already (680xxConvention for example) and still the same people as always won the Graphics/Musics-Competitions! ;)

While the end of the GEMA-madness is a huge relief, not only for you Orgas! :)

Another problem is artists registering their works with some distributor that does content id scans on for example YouTube. We've had problems with the video upload of the Solskogen music compos because of that. Basically you're left with a choice of monetizing the upload and giving away the money for it to whoever is claiming it, or mute the relevant sections of the video.
